Small Pet Select chicken nesting pads 13x13 in — 8-pack compostable, absorbent nest liners

Small Pet Select Chicken Nesting Pads are 13x13-inch, compostable nest liners designed to give hens a cushioned, clean spot for laying eggs while simplifying coop maintenance.

These 8-pack nesting pads are made from USA-sourced, biodegradable craft paper (aspen-based) engineered to be durable enough for repeated use yet compost-friendly when it's time to replace them. The square 13x13-inch size fits most standard nesting boxes and offers a tidy alternative to loose straw or shavings. Lightweight and disposable, the pads cut down on daily coop cleanup and help keep eggs cleaner by providing a stable, absorbent surface that reduces mess and roll-off.

How do these pads make egg collecting and coop cleaning easier?

The pads give eggs a soft, non-slip landing that reduces breakage and soiling, making collection quicker and decreasing the need for frequent deep cleans. Because they’re disposable and compostable, you can swap liners in seconds and add the used pad to a compost pile instead of hauling out wet straw or bedding.

• Reduces egg dirt and breakage with a cushioned surface
• Minimizes loose bedding tracked through the coop
• Quick swap-out lowers routine cleaning time
• Compostable material reduces waste going to landfill

Will the 13x13-inch pads fit my nesting boxes and stay in place?

The 13x13-inch dimension matches most standard and small nesting boxes, providing edge-to-edge coverage for typical setups. The pads are sturdy enough to hold shape under a hen’s weight, and their textured surface helps eggs stay put and prevents sliding.

• Fits most standard nesting boxes and small coops
• Stable, flat profile supports hens without bunching
• Textured surface reduces egg movement
• Lightweight for easy placement and removal

What are these pads made of, and are they safe for composting?

Small Pet Select nesting pads are produced from U.S.-sourced biodegradable craft paper, commonly made from aspen fibers, providing natural absorbency and a low-chemical profile. When soiled, they can be added to a home compost pile along with other organic materials; they will break down faster than synthetic bedding options.

• Made from biodegradable craft paper derived from aspen
• Free of synthetic plastics and heavy coatings
• Suitable for home compost systems with proper management
• Manufactured in the USA to meet quality standards

How long do the pads last and when should I replace them?

Longevity depends on flock size, humidity, and frequency of use; a single pad often lasts several days to a couple of weeks under normal conditions. Replace pads when they become heavily soiled, compacted, or lose cushioning; swapping regularly helps keep nests dry and eggs clean.

• Typical use: days to a few weeks per pad depending on conditions
• Replace when padding compresses or shows heavy soiling
• Keeping a rotation of pads reduces odor and moisture buildup
• Dispose used pads to compost or garden waste where accepted

Who is this product best suited for? Small Pet Select Chicken Nesting Pads are ideal for backyard chicken keepers, small-scale farmers, and anyone who prefers low-maintenance, sanitary nesting solutions. They work well for hobbyists who want tidier nests without daily bedding changes, hatcheries seeking consistency in nesting surfaces, and caretakers who favor compostable products over synthetic options.
