Small Pet Select Timothy Hay for Rabbits & Guinea Pigs, 8 lb Value Box — High-Fiber, Hand-Packed

This Value Choice line focuses on the essentials: wholesome Timothy hay grown on the West Coast of the USA, inspected seasonally, and packed without excessive packaging to keep costs low and quality high. The hay arrives in a large recyclable box rather than single-use plastic, and every box is hand-packed to preserve strand length and natural aroma. It’s intended as a reliable daily forage to support basic digestive and dental needs for small herbivores without the premium markup of fancy bags or extras.

How does this hay support my pet’s digestion?

Timothy hay is rich in long-fiber strands that promote gut motility and steady digestion in herbivorous small animals. Regular access to high-fiber hay helps maintain a healthy microbial balance and reduces the risk of gastrointestinal slowdown when combined with a proper diet.

• High in natural fiber to encourage chewing and regular digestive function.
• Hand-packed to preserve long strands that promote consistent intake.
• Suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other small herbivores.
• Grown and harvested in the USA with seasonal farm inspections for quality.

Will this hay help with dental wear and chewing habits?

Long-stem Timothy hay provides the abrasive chewing action small pets need to wear down continuously growing teeth. Daily access to coarse hay pieces supports natural gnawing behavior and helps prevent overgrown incisors and molars when used alongside appropriate chew toys and diet management.

• Long strands encourage extended chewing sessions for natural tooth wear.
• Consistent texture helps maintain healthy dental surfaces.
• Hand-inspected bales reduce fines and dust that can discourage chewing.
• Works well mixed with other hay varieties for picky eaters.

How fresh and sustainable is the packaging?

Small Pet Select emphasizes freshness through hand-packing and seasonal farm selection rather than heavy processing. The hay ships in large recyclable, compostable boxes instead of single-use plastic bags to reduce waste and keep costs down while still protecting the product during transit.

• Hand-packed boxes help maintain hay strand integrity and aroma.
• Recyclable, compostable outer box minimizes plastic waste.
• Seasonal inspections and local sourcing from West Coast farms improve traceability.
• Less decorative packaging lowers price without compromising hay quality.

How much hay is in one box and how long will it last?

The product contains 8 lb of timothy hay, a practical size for households with one or two small pets. How long it lasts depends on the number and size of pets and whether hay is offered ad libitum; for a single rabbit kept on constant hay access, an 8 lb box usually lasts several weeks to a month.

• 8 lb weight per box—enough for sustained daily feeding for small households.
• Hand-packed quantity offers even distribution of fresh strands throughout the box.
• Best stored in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness after opening.
• Consider subscribing or buying multiple boxes for multi-pet homes to avoid gaps in supply.

Who is this for: Small Pet Select Value Choice Timothy Hay is aimed at owners who want a dependable, no-frills source of high-fiber hay for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other small herbivores. It’s well suited to budget-conscious households, rescue facilities, and anyone preferring eco-friendly, recyclable packaging over premium-branded extras.
