Streamlight TLR-7 X Sub rail weapon light — 550-lumen for 1913 subcompact, ambidextrous controls

The Streamlight TLR-7 X Sub is a low-profile, high-output rail light made for 1913-equipped subcompact handguns, delivering focused 550-lumen illumination with ambidextrous controls and quick-install features.

This compact weapon light balances a powerful central beam with useful peripheral fill to help you identify targets and navigate low-light environments. Built with machined 6000-series aluminum, impact-resistant glass, and an IPX7 waterproof rating, it’s engineered to withstand hard use while staying small enough for subcompact platforms. The clamp-style mounting system and interchangeable paddle controls make it fast to attach and adapt to left- or right-hand setups.

How bright is the TLR-7 X Sub and what does that brightness mean in practice?

The TLR-7 X Sub produces up to 550 lumens, about 5,000 candela, with a beam reaching roughly 141 meters. That output creates a concentrated hotspot for identification at distance while also offering surrounding light to reveal context close to the shooter.

• 550 lumens peak output for clear target illumination
• 5,000 candela concentrates light for long-range visibility
• 141-meter beam distance for practical identification ranges
• TIR optics balance hot spot and peripheral spill

Will it fit my subcompact handgun and how easy is installation?

Designed specifically for 1913 accessory rails on subcompact pistols, the TLR-7 X Sub uses a low-profile clamp that secures to the rail without adding bulk. Installation and removal can be performed one-handed, keeping hands away from the muzzle, and the package includes the tools needed for mounting.

• Specialized clamp for secure 1913 rail attachment
• One-handed mount and removal reduces handling time
• Includes mounting key and multi-tool for setup
• Low-profile form keeps concealability and holster fit in mind

What controls and modes are available for operation?

Ambidextrous rear-mounted switches provide ergonomic access to momentary and constant-on modes, plus a user-activated strobe option for tactical signaling. The light ships with interchangeable paddle switches so you can tailor the feel and activation to your shooting preference.

• Rear switches for ambidextrous momentary or constant-on use
• User-selectable strobe for signaling or distraction
• Interchangeable high and low paddles included for customization
• Safe-Off setting helps prevent accidental activation

How durable and weather-resistant is this light?

Constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum with a hard anodized finish and protected by BOROFLOAT® glass, the TLR-7 X Sub is built to endure rough handling. It carries an IPX7 waterproof rating and features impact- and chemical-resistant polymer components where appropriate.

• Machined 6000-series aluminum housing for strength and weight savings
• BOROFLOAT glass lens resists impacts and maintains clarity
• IPX7 waterproof rating for temporary immersion protection
• Polymer switch housing resists impact and chemical exposure
