Schlage Encode Smart WiFi Deadbolt with Greenwich trim in Matte Black is a keyless deadbolt that lets you lock, unlock, and manage up to 100 access codes remotely using built-in WiFi and the Schlage Home app.

This smart deadbolt combines Schlage’s long-standing mechanical reliability with modern connected controls so you can monitor and operate your exterior door from anywhere without extra hubs. Its Greenwich trim offers a clean, transitional profile in a matte black finish that coordinates with Schlage interior hardware, while the built-in encryption and customizable alarm settings protect against unauthorized use and forced entry attempts.

How do I control the lock when I’m away from home?

Because the Encode has built-in WiFi, you connect it directly to your secure home network and use the Schlage Home app to operate the lock remotely. The app shows lock activity, lets you create and manage user codes, and sends notifications for lock events so you always know who entered and when.

• Connects directly to 2.4 GHz WiFi—no additional bridge or hub required
• Manage up to 100 unique access codes for family, guests, and service providers
• Push notifications and lock history available in the Schlage Home app

What security features help protect my home?

The Encode offers multiple layers of protection: encrypted WiFi communications, a built-in tamper alarm, and a fingerprint-resistant touchscreen to reduce visible wear patterns. It also carries BHMA’s highest residential ratings for security, durability, and finish to reflect rigorous testing standards.

• Secure AES/TLS-style encryption for wireless connections
• Customizable built-in alarm for forced entry or excessive door movement
• Physical key backup and durable internal deadbolt mechanics

How difficult is installation and ongoing maintenance?

Installation is straightforward and designed for DIY homeowners—no hardwiring is necessary and the Snap ‘n Stay latch holds the lock in place while you work. The deadbolt runs on four AA batteries (included) with typical battery life up to six months; low-battery alerts appear on the touchscreen and in the app so you can replace cells before power is lost.

• Fits standard doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick and common backsets
• Install with a Phillips screwdriver in minutes using the included hardware
• Battery life indicator on touchscreen and in-app low-battery notifications

Will this work with voice assistants and my existing smart home?

Yes—the Schlage Encode pairs with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for optional hands-free control when the lock is connected to the Schlage Home app and a compatible voice device. Because it connects directly to WiFi, it also integrates easily with other smart-home routines and multi-lock setups controlled from one app account.

• Works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice locking/unlocking
• Manage multiple Encode locks from a single Schlage Home app account
• Direct WiFi connection avoids needing additional bridges or hubs
