LEGO City Backhoe Loader Construction Toy 301pcs — Yellow, Working Bucket & Backhoe

The LEGO City Yellow Backhoe Loader 60480 is a 301-piece construction toy featuring a working front bucket, maneuverable backhoe arm, fold-down stabilizers and two minifigures for hands-on building and role play.

This set recreates a compact but fully detailed construction vehicle for kids who enjoy mechanical functions and storytelling. It combines realistic moving parts — chunky rubber tires, an engine bay, and a removable canopy — with small site elements like a portable toilet, rubble pieces and a toy gem to spark discovery and imaginative scenes.

How does the backhoe loader move and interact with play pieces?

The model offers several manual functions that mirror a real machine, letting children manipulate the loader and backhoe for varied play scenarios. Controls are simple and durable, designed for hands-on alignment and scooping action during pretend dig-and-reveal missions.

• Front bucket raises, tips and carries loose pieces for dumping.
• Backhoe arm mounted on a ball joint for smooth multi-angle scooping.
• Fold-down stabilizer legs provide a stable digging position for the vehicle.
• Rubber tires and a removable canopy make the vehicle both playable and displayable.

What extras come with the set and how do they encourage storytelling?

Beyond the loader itself, the set includes props and small elements that prompt narrative play and discovery. Kids can stage a construction scene, uncover a hidden gem inside a boulder and equip workers using the included tools and signage.

• Two worker minifigures for cooperative or role-based play scenarios.
• Portable toilet piece with interior detail to add realism to the jobsite.
• Accessories: shovel, pickaxe, construction sign, rubble pieces and three boulders.
• Toy gem that can be revealed during excavation to create discovery moments.

How easy is the build and can kids get digital help?

The 301-piece count and clear part grouping make this set approachable for ages 7 and up, while the LEGO Builder app offers an optional digital companion for step-by-step guidance. The app supports zooming, rotating the model in 3D and saving progress, which helps less experienced builders follow the construction sequence.

• 301 pieces sized for an engaging, not overwhelming, build time.
• Printable instructions included, plus the LEGO Builder app’s interactive guidance.
• 3D model controls in the app help visualize connections before snapping pieces together.

Will this set combine with other LEGO City vehicles?

Yes — it’s designed to fit seamlessly alongside other LEGO City sets to expand play possibilities. Pairing multiple vehicles creates larger jobsites, rescue scenarios or city scenes for extended creative sessions.

• Compatible with other LEGO City construction and vehicle sets (sold separately).
• Standard LEGO studs and connection points enable modular additions.
• Great for building a multi-vehicle fleet or a complete construction site display.
