Westinghouse Saf-T-Brace Ceiling Fan Mounting Brace, Silver — Fingertip Expandable 15.5 cu in Steel Box, Supports Up to 150 lb

The Westinghouse Saf-T-Brace 0110000 is a fingertip-expanding, all-metal ceiling-mount brace and 15.5 cu. in. electrical box designed to securely support ceiling fans and light fixtures without attic access.

Whether you’re installing a new fan during construction, remodeling a finished room, or replacing a light fixture, the Saf-T-Brace delivers a fast, sturdy mounting solution. Its patented expansion mechanism anchors between joists from below the ceiling, while the heavy-gauge metal box and dual-threaded holes accept both lightweight fixtures and heavier fans. The kit arrives with the hardware and protective Saf-T-Cap needed to keep bolts and wiring safe during drywall and paint work.

How does the Saf-T-Brace install without attic access?

Installation works from beneath the ceiling through a single access hole sized to accept the brace. The threaded lead and square tube let you turn the unit to expand its teeth, which lock into the joists and pull the brace tight for a secure hold.

• Fingertip expansion for quick setup from below the ceiling
• Teeth that twist and lock into joists on 16"–24" centers
• Square tube and threaded multiple lead for easy turning and tightening
• Includes mounting hardware and instructions for straightforward fitting

What load capacities and fittings does this brace support?

The integrated 15.5 cubic-inch steel box and dual-threaded holes make the Saf-T-Brace versatile for many fixtures. It is UL listed for specific fixture loads and provides both lightweight and heavy-duty attachment points.

• Supports up to 150 lb for fixtures on 16" centers and 50 lb on 24" centers
• Acceptable for fan support up to 70 lb
• 8-32 threads for cover plates and light fixtures; 10-24 threads for fans and chandeliers
• Meets UL and NEC guidelines for exposed threads and fixture support

Which materials and components are included in the box?

The Saf-T-Brace assembly is built from durable metal components and ships as a complete kit so you can finish the mounting in one visit. A protective cap shields exposed parts during finishing work.

• All-metal mounting brace with integrated 1-1/2" deep, 15.5 cu. in. electrical box
• Saf-T-Cap to protect bolts and wires during drywall and painting
• Wire bushing (Romex connector), mounting hardware, and clear instructions
• Six knockouts for Romex or conduit routing to the box

Will this brace fit in finished ceilings and different joist spacings?

Yes—the design allows retrofit fitting through a single access opening and adjusts to common joist spacings. Teeth engage positively with joists between 16 and 24 inches on center for reliable anchoring.

• Retrofit-capable through a hole big enough to pass the brace into place
• Adjusts to 16" and 24" joist centers with secure tooth engagement
• Threaded adjustment for snug, vibration-resistant installation
• Acceptable for both new construction and remodeling projects

Who is this for?
