Weber Hinged Charcoal Cooking Grate for 22-inch Kettles — Plated-Steel with Flip-Up Sides & Integrated Handles

This heavy-duty hinged cooking grate is made for 22-inch Weber charcoal kettles and gives you convenient access to the firebox while you cook. Its plated-steel construction, integrated curved handgrips, and secure resting points make it a practical swap-in part for worn or missing grates. The design balances durability with easy maintenance so your outdoor grilling stays simple and dependable.

How does the hinged design make grilling easier?

The hinged sides lift up so you can add briquettes or rearrange coals without taking off the entire grate, saving time and reducing mess. Built-in raised handles let you operate the flip-up sections safely during cooking.

• Flip-up panels provide direct access to charcoal and ash below.
• Raised curved handgrips allow safe lifting without tools.
• Sits on the kettle’s upper prongs for stable placement.

Will this grate fit my grill and how durable is it?

This replacement is engineered specifically for 22-inch Weber charcoal grills and won’t fit Smokey Mountain Cooker smoker models. It’s plated-steel for good everyday strength and backed by a one-year limited warranty for homeowner use.

• Designed for 22" Weber charcoal kettles — check model compatibility before buying.
• Plated steel construction resists routine wear from heat and cleaning.
• Includes a one-year limited warranty for peace of mind.

How do I clean and maintain the hinged cooking grate?

Maintenance is straightforward: preheat the grill on high to loosen residues, then scrape with a grill brush. The plated finish tolerates routine cleaning techniques typically used on charcoal grate surfaces.

• Preheat on high for about 15 minutes to burn off grease.
• Brush with a stiff grill brush to remove debris and char.
• Inspect hinge points and handles for buildup and wipe as needed.

Can the grate be used during different cooking styles?

Yes — the hinged grate supports direct grilling of burgers, steaks, and vegetables while allowing quick fuel adjustments for longer cooks or temperature control. It is not intended to convert kettle grills into smokers but accommodates a variety of direct-heat and two-zone cooking setups.

• Works well for quick, direct grilling and routine charcoal management.
• Enables mid-cook charcoal additions for longer sessions.
• Pairs with standard kettle accessories for two-zone arrangements.

Who is this for: Home grillers who own a 22-inch Weber charcoal kettle and need an easy-to-use replacement grate that speeds adding fuel and simplifies maintenance. It’s ideal if you want a sturdy, OEM-compatible grate with hinged access for frequent charcoal adjustments or for replacing a damaged original part.
