VTech Chomp and Count Dino pull-along learning toy, Green — 8 food pieces & 130+ songs

VTech's Chomp and Count Dino is an interactive pull-along learning toy that eats shape-and-color food pieces while teaching numbers, shapes, colors and simple questions through songs and phrases.

This green, dinosaur-shaped activity toy turns early learning into hands-on play: toddlers place eight colorful food pieces into the Dino's mouth, listen for recognition and responses, and choose between counting or meal modes. Built with multiple play surfaces, a spinning disc, shape buttons and over 130 songs, melodies and phrases, the Chomp and Count Dino offers varied engagement to reinforce vocabulary, number sense and fine motor skills during repeated play sessions. It includes volume control and auto shut-off for parent-friendly use; two AA batteries are provided for demo.

How does the Dino help toddlers learn counting and numbers?

The toy features a counting mode that prompts children to feed the Dino specific pieces and counts aloud as each item is accepted, connecting the physical action of placing pieces with spoken number words. Repetition through songs and interactive prompts supports number recognition and one-to-one correspondence.

• Counts each piece as the Dino eats it to reinforce ordinal and cardinal ideas
• Counting mode directs the child to give specific food pieces
• Verbal feedback paired with physical play strengthens memory
• 130+ songs and phrases include number-related tunes for repetition

What learning does it offer beyond numbers?

Besides counting, the Dino introduces colors, basic shapes and vocabulary about food, while teaching cause-and-effect as children see immediate responses when pieces are inserted. Buttons and a spinning disc add sensory variety and encourage recognition of shapes and categories.

• Recognizes eight color-coded food pieces for color learning
• Five shape buttons teach shape names and simple matching
• Meal mode focuses on food vocabulary and classification
• Music and phrases broaden language exposure and listening skills

How durable and practical is the toy for everyday toddler play?

Designed for ages 1–3, the Chomp and Count Dino is built to be pulled, pushed and handled repeatedly; its chunky, easy-to-grasp pieces suit developing fine motor control. Volume settings and an auto shut-off extend battery life and make it suitable for home and daycare environments.

• Sturdy dinosaur body resists rough handling and rolling play
• Chunky, brightly colored pieces are sized for little hands
• Pull toy function adds gross-motor engagement during playtime
• Volume control and auto shut-off for caregiver convenience

What do parents need to know about batteries and safety?

The unit arrives with two AA batteries for demonstration; replace these with fresh batteries for regular use to ensure consistent volume and response. All pieces are large enough to avoid choking hazards for the intended age range, but supervision is still recommended during play.

• Includes two AA demo batteries; use new AA batteries for long-term play
• Large, easy-to-grip food pieces reduce small-part risk
• Durable design made for toddlers ages 1–3 years
• Volume control helps manage noise in shared spaces
