U.S. Kitchen Supply 6-Quart Stainless Steel Collapsible Colander — Rectangular Fine-Mesh with Expandable Handles

U.S. Kitchen Supply’s 6‑quart stainless steel collapsible colander is an over‑sink, fine‑mesh strainer designed to drain, rinse and sift with a stable, expandable handle system.

This rectangular 13" x 9" basket combines rust‑resistant stainless steel with a tightly woven mesh to catch small grains while letting water flow quickly. The handles extend to bridge most sinks and fold down for compact storage, making it a practical accessory for everyday cooking tasks from rinsing berries and rice to draining pasta and sifting dry ingredients. Built to be dishwasher safe and stable when resting on a sink, it reduces mess and saves counter space.

How does the over‑sink design make food prep faster?

By spanning your sink, the colander lets water run directly into the basin so you can rinse or drain without moving heavy pots or juggling bowls. The extended handles lock in place to keep the basket secure above the sink and the low profile keeps water contained.

• Expandable handles reach 14"–21" to fit most sink widths.
• Rectangular shape covers more surface area than round strainers.
• Drainage directs liquid straight into the sink, minimizing spills.

Will the fine mesh keep rice and small foods from escaping?

The tightly woven stainless steel mesh captures small grains and tiny food pieces that larger perforated colanders miss. It’s ideal for delicate tasks like rinsing rice, quinoa, and small seeds while still allowing fast water flow.

• Fine mesh traps small particles without clogging easily.
• Stable base with feet prevents tipping when filled.
• Stainless steel resists rust for long‑term use.

Is this colander easy to store and clean?

Yes — the silicone‑topped handles collapse inward so the basket nests flat for cupboard storage. The all‑metal mesh and frame are dishwasher safe, making clean up quick after rinsing vegetables or draining pasta.

• Collapsible design tucks into sinks or cabinets when not in use.
• Dishwasher‑safe construction simplifies cleanup.
• Silicone handle grips protect counters and provide slip resistance.

What everyday kitchen tasks can this strainer handle?

This versatile sieve works for draining pasta and spaghetti, rinsing fruits and vegetables, washing rice and grains, and even sifting dry ingredients. Its rectangular design and stable feet make it handy for both heavy and delicate jobs.

• Draining pasta and cooked vegetables without transferring to another container.
• Rinsing berries, lettuce, and small produce thoroughly and efficiently.
• Sifting flour or rinsing rice and quinoa without losing grains.
