Traeger Hickory Wood Pellets 18 lb — 100% All-Natural, Low Ash Hardwood Pellets for Smoking & Grilling

Traeger Hickory wood pellets are 100% all-natural hardwood fuel designed to deliver bold, smoky hickory flavor for smoking, grilling, baking, roasting, and searing on pellet grills.

These 18 lb bags contain premium hickory pellets produced in U.S. mills to offer a consistent burn, low ash output, and no binders or fillers. Traeger formulated these pellets to strike a reliable burn-to-smoke balance so cooks can expect predictable smoke intensity and long, steady heat during long cooks. The result is robust, classic barbecue flavor that complements beef, pork, poultry, and vegetables without masking the food.

How do Traeger Hickory pellets affect flavor during smoking?

Hickory is known for its strong, savory smoke profile that enhances meaty cuts and stands up to longer cooks. Using these pellets introduces a pronounced, wood-forward taste without artificial additives, making them a go-to for traditional American barbecue flavor.

• Bold, savory smoke ideal for brisket, ribs, and pork shoulder
• Balances well with stronger marinades and dry rubs
• Accents vegetables and poultry with a deeper smoke note
• All-natural hardwood avoids chemical off-notes

Why do consistent pellets matter for performance?

Uniform density and moisture content control how evenly pellets ignite and produce smoke. Traeger’s quality process yields pellets that feed predictably through augers, burn steadily in burn pots, and minimize flare-ups and interruptions during multi-hour cooks.

• Engineered moisture level for steady burn-to-smoke ratio
• Low ash formulation reduces cleaning frequency
• Compact cell structure promotes even ignition and heat
• Made in American mills for consistent manufacturing standards

Which foods pair best with hickory pellets and when should I use them?

Hickory shines on rich, fatty proteins and any dish that benefits from a pronounced smoke character. Choose hickory for long smokes, classic Southern-style dishes, or when you want a robust wood note to stand up to strong seasonings.

• Beef: brisket, tri-tip, and steaks for a hearty smoke crust
• Pork: ribs, shoulder, and bacon for deep wood flavor
• Poultry: whole chicken or duck for a richer smoke layer
• Vegetables: root veg and squash when you want pronounced smoke

How do I store and handle these pellets for best results?

Keeping pellets dry and sealed preserves ignition performance and reduces clumping. Transfer smaller amounts to an airtight container for frequent use and keep the bulk bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

• Store in a dry garage or covered shed away from moisture
• Use airtight bins for opened bags to prevent humidity uptake
• Rotate stock so older bags are used first for consistent results
• Inspect for visible debris before adding to the hopper
