Ticonderoga My First Wood-Cased Pencils are oversized No. 2 HB pencils designed for small hands, delivering smooth, consistent lines and easy sharpening for early writers.

These 36 bright yellow, round pencils are made to support children learning to hold and control a pencil. At 13/32” diameter, the larger barrel improves grip and comfort while the thick HB graphite core provides broad, reliable strokes. The pencils use premium wood from responsibly managed forests and include a latex-free eraser for safe, classroom-ready use. Teachers and parents favor this Ticonderoga option for its dependable performance in handwriting practice, coloring, and drawing activities.

How does the oversized shape help beginning writers?

The larger round barrel gives small fingers more surface area to grasp, which helps stabilize pencil control and reduces fatigue. The size encourages a natural tripod grip and supports smoother, more confident strokes as children develop fine motor skills.

• 13/32” diameter for easier gripping by young hands
• Round shape encourages natural control and wrist positioning
• Thicker core reduces pressure needed to make visible marks

What makes the graphite formula different from regular pencils?

Ticonderoga uses an exclusive No. 2 HB graphite formulation that emphasizes smoothness and consistency. The thicker core produces broader lines that are easier to read and erase, which is helpful for early handwriting practice and classroom assignments.

• #2 HB core for school-standard darkness and erasability
• Thick graphite core minimizes frequent re-pressing and breakage
• Formulation sources controlled to ensure uniform performance

Will these pencils sharpen reliably and stay intact with regular use?

Yes—the pencils are crafted from premium wood sourced from responsibly managed forests, which sharpens evenly and reduces nib breakage. The quality of materials and construction means fewer frustrating splinters and a smoother sharpening experience with most classroom sharpeners.

• Premium wood for consistent, even sharpening
• Reduced lead breakage thanks to a thicker core and solid bonding
• Latex-free eraser attached for quick corrections

Is this product safe and suitable for classroom use?
