Thermacell Fuel-ZoneGuard Backpacker Mosquito Repellent Mat Refills provide 48 hours of DEET-free protection by powering a 15-foot mosquito-free zone when used with a Thermacell Backpacker repeller.

When mosquitoes interrupt outdoor dinners, camping trips or backyard evenings, a dependable, hands-free option is essential. These genuine Thermacell mat refills are formulated to work exclusively with Fuel-ZoneGuard Backpacker repellers and deliver consistent repellent release without sprays, lotions, smoke or open flames. Each package contains twelve 4-hour mats that slide into the repeller and heat to keep biting insects away while you enjoy outdoor activities.

How do these refills create a mosquito-free area?

The mats are designed to be heated by the Thermacell Backpacker unit, which disperses an EPA-reviewed repellent into the surrounding air. The active formulation targets mosquito sensory systems to reduce landings in the treated space, forming an approximately 15-foot radius of protection.

• Includes 12 mats, each providing about 4 hours of protection (48 hours total)
• Designed for use with Fuel-ZoneGuard Backpacker repeller units only
• Creates an approximate 15-foot protection radius around the device
• Starts providing maximum effect within about 15 minutes after activation

Are these mats safe for people and pets to use outdoors?

Thermacell mats are intended for outdoor use and have been independently tested and reviewed by regulatory authorities for safety and effectiveness when used as directed. They are a non-contact alternative to topical repellents, keeping repellent off skin and clothing.

• Scent-free and smoke-free operation—no open flame required
• EPA-reviewed formulation; follow repeller instructions for safe use
• Useful around families and pets when placed and operated outdoors
• Do not use indoors or in confined spaces

How easy are these refills to install and replace?

Replacing the mat is straightforward: slide a fresh mat into the device’s grill, insert or twist in the fuel canister, and click the Backpacker repeller to start heating. The compact mats are disposable and require no clean-up of trapped insects.

• Slide mat under the repeller grill—no tools required
• Twist in the fuel canister, click 2–3 times to activate heating
• Repeller heats immediately; reach full protection in ~15 minutes
• Turn device off when finished; simply discard used mats

What should I expect in terms of performance and packaging?

Performance is consistent across mats for the stated duration when used with a compatible Thermacell repeller. Packaging may vary by region or lot but contains 12 individual mats delivering a combined 48 hours of protection.

• 12 mats × ~4 hours each = ~48 hours of total repellent time
