Tapo 2K Wired Security Camera C120 — Indoor/Outdoor 4MP, Starlight Night Vision & AI Person/Pet Detection

The Tapo C120 is a compact 2K wired security camera built for both indoor and outdoor use, offering starlight color night vision, AI-based person/pet/vehicle detection, and flexible mounting options.

Compact but feature-rich, the Tapo C120 delivers detailed 4MP (2K) video, clear two-way audio, and a range of smart alerts without mandatory subscription fees. Designed to withstand weather with an IP66 rating and to integrate easily with home systems via RTSP/ONVIF, this camera suits front porches, nurseries, garages, and small businesses that need reliable, high-resolution monitoring day and night.

How does the image quality hold up in low light?

The C120 uses a starlight progressive-scan CMOS sensor that captures color footage in dim environments and switches to invisible IR for discreet night surveillance. Image processing like 3K DNR and WDR reduces noise and balances bright and dark areas for more useful footage.

• 4MP (2K QHD) resolution for clearer detail
• Starlight color night vision plus two spotlights for better nighttime color
• 850 nm IR and 940 nm invisible IR options up to 30 ft (9 m)
• 3K DNR and WDR image enhancement to reduce grain and glare

What smart detections and alerts can I expect?

On-device AI classifies motion events into categories like person, pet, and vehicle to cut down on false alarms. The camera also supports specialized detections — including baby cry, barking, meowing, glass break, and line-crossing — so notifications are more relevant to your needs.

• Person, pet, and vehicle detection without extra fees
• Baby cry and various audio-triggered alerts (bark, meow, glass-breaking)
• Custom monitoring zones and privacy zone setup
• Line-crossing detection for boundary monitoring

How does it connect and where can footage be saved?

The camera connects over 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and supports common security standards like WPA/WPA2 and 128-bit AES with SSL/TLS. For local recording, use a MicroSD card (up to 512GB); the camera also works with cloud storage subscription or integrates into NVR systems through RTSP/ONVIF.

• 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi with up to 72.2 Mbps (802.11n)
• Local MicroSD recording (up to 512GB) and optional cloud backup
• RTSP/ONVIF compatibility for third-party NVRs
• On-device encryption and machine-learning processing for smarter alerts

What mounting and hardware features make installation flexible?

The C120 is compact and weatherproof, with a magnetic iron base and a range of mounting accessories included for quick placement on metal surfaces or more permanent installations. The package contains a power adapter, Type-C cable, anchors, screws, and a mounting template so you can set it up indoors or outdoors right away.

• IP66 weatherproof rating for rain and dust resistance
• Magnetic iron base for quick attachment to metal surfaces
• Comes with mounting plate, anchors, screws, cable organizers, and 3m Type-C cable
• Compact footprint suitable for railings, eaves, and indoor shelves

Who this camera is for: The Tapo C120 fits homeowners and small business owners who want high-resolution monitoring without a heavy subscription cost. It’s ideal for parents keeping an eye on a nursery, pet owners checking activity at home, delivery monitoring at the doorstep, or anyone needing a weatherproof camera with strong night capabilities and intelligent alerts.
