Syngenta Tenacity Turf Herbicide concentrate 8 oz — mesotrione pre- and post-emergent control for lawns

Syngenta Tenacity Turf Herbicide (8 oz) is a mesotrione-based, selective pre-emergent and post-emergent treatment for broadleaf and grassy weeds in established turf.

Tenacity is formulated to provide both contact and residual control of many common lawn weeds while being safe on a wide range of turfgrasses when used as directed. Packaged in an 8-ounce bottle (packaging may vary), this concentrate is designed for homeowners, turf managers, and landscapers who need a versatile product to manage weeds such as crabgrass, dandelion, chickweed, clover, and more. The active ingredient is mesotrione 40%, and when stored properly away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, the product maintains effectiveness for 5–8 years from the manufacture date printed on the container.

How does Tenacity work and when should I apply it?

Tenacity acts both as a pre-emergent—taken up by seedlings as they emerge—and as a post-emergent contact treatment on active weed growth. Timing depends on the target species: apply early for prevention of annual grasses and when broadleaf weeds are actively growing for knockdown effects. Always follow label rates and local use restrictions.

• Mode: mesotrione systemic activity with contact and residual control
• Pre-emergent: applies before or during weed emergence for suppression
• Post-emergent: works on visible, actively growing weeds
• Adjust timing by species, climate, and turf growth stage

What weeds does Tenacity control effectively?

Tenacity targets a broad spectrum of grassy and broadleaf weeds commonly found in turf. It is effective against both summer and cool-season volunteers, making it a flexible choice for mixed weed populations. Results vary by species, application rate, and environmental conditions.

• Grasses: crabgrass (large & smooth), barnyardgrass, foxtail, goosegrass
• Broadleaf weeds: dandelion, clover, chickweed, henbit, thistle
• Other targets: carpetweed, purslane, yellow nutsedge, wild carrot
• Consult label for full species list and rate recommendations

How do I mix and apply the 8 oz Tenacity concentrate safely?

Mix Tenacity according to the label instructions, using the specified dilution and appropriate spray equipment for even coverage. Wear recommended personal protective equipment, avoid drift to desirable plants, and follow re-entry intervals if listed on the label. Do not rely on the manufacture date as expiration—store properly to preserve shelf life.

• Use clean sprayer, calibrated to recommended output
• Follow label rates for pre- vs post-emergent applications
• Wear gloves, eye protection, and other PPE per label
• Store away from sunlight and extreme temperatures for 5–8 year shelf life

Will Tenacity harm my turf and what grasses are compatible?

When applied at label rates, Tenacity is selective and labeled for use on many common turfgrasses. Turf response depends on species, stress level, and environmental conditions; test on a small area if unsure. Avoid using under severe stress conditions and always follow the specific turfgrass recommendations on the label.

• Safe on many cool- and warm-season turf species when used correctly
• Avoid application to stressed, newly seeded, or damaged turf unless label permits
• Spot-test or consult extension resources for uncommon turf types
• Adhere strictly to label mixing and timing to minimize turf injury
