SMEAD Letter-Size Heavy-Duty Steel Hanging File Frames, 2-Pack Gray — Adjustable 23"–27", Tool-Free Setup

Smead’s heavy-duty steel hanging file frames convert drawers or desktops into stable, letter-size hanging file storage with adjustable 23"–27" rails for a custom fit.

These two gray metal frames give you a simple, durable way to organize paperwork in offices, classrooms and at home. Each frame measures 11-3/4" wide by 9-1/4" high and extends from 23" to 27" using rails scored in half-inch steps, so you can adapt them to a variety of drawers, pedestals and cabinets without special tools. Built from heavy-gauge steel, the frames support fully loaded folders while smooth-edged rails help files glide and protect tabs and paper.

How do these frames fit my existing drawers and pedestals?

The frames expand from 23" to 27" using scored rails that lock at half-inch increments, giving a snug fit in many standard file drawers and desk pedestals. No permanent modifications are needed; the adjustable length tailors the frame to your space.

• Adjusts in 1/2" increments for precise length control
• Works inside desk drawers, cabinets and on desktops
• Fits standard letter-size hanging folders
• Tool-free adjustment — no drilling or brackets required

Will the frames hold heavy or bulky files reliably?

Yes — heavy-gauge steel construction provides solid support for fully loaded hanging folders and frequent use. Smooth-edged rails reduce friction so folders slide easily and tabs stay intact, even when storing thicker materials.

• Durable steel resists bending under weight
• Rails designed to prevent snagging and tearing
• Pairs with box-bottom folders for bulky or archived files
• Set of two frames supplies both sides of a typical drawer

How much setup is required and what comes in the box?

Assembly is quick and straightforward: frames ship flat and include all necessary parts, so you can put them together and begin filing in a few minutes. The design keeps installation simple while maintaining a secure holding position once installed.

• Flat-pack for compact shipping and easy handling
• All components included; basic assembly steps only
• Some assembly required, no specialized tools needed
• Ready to accept letter-size hanging folders immediately

Are these frames compatible with Smead folders and where are they made?

• Designed for letter-size hanging file folders
• Optimized for use with Smead folder lines
