SMALLRIG 22" Magic Arm Clamp Overhead Phone Mount — Aluminum Arm, 600g Load Capacity

The SMALLRIG 22" Magic Arm Clamp is a long, adjustable overhead mounting arm with a secure super-clamp and phone mount for stable live streaming, vlogging, overhead shooting, and desktop capture.

The SMALLRIG 22-inch magic arm kit gives creators a flexible, heavy-duty way to position phones, small cameras, lights, or microphones above desks and workstations. Built from aluminum alloy and engineered for added grip and anti-deflection strength, this kit was designed to minimize wobble while offering a long reach for overhead framing, stop-motion rigs, and streaming setups. It ships with a phone clamp, multiple screws and an adapter so you can attach 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 devices quickly.

How does the extended arm help with overhead shooting?

The 56 cm (22") length gives you more horizontal and vertical reach than typical short magic arms, letting you center subjects over tables, keyboards, or craft surfaces without getting the camera stand in the shot. Its longer span reduces the need for separate booms or tripods in many setups.

• 22" arm length for wider overhead coverage
• 600 g (21 oz) rated load capacity for phones and small cameras
• Ideal for stop-motion, unboxing, craft demos, and overhead tutorials

What keeps the arm stable and prevents slippage?

Stability comes from an anti-deflection 1/4"-20 interface that locks the magic arm to the super clamp more securely than a simple ball-socket connection. Additional silicone pads and rubber rings placed throughout the clamp and on the ball heads improve friction and protect gear from scratches while preventing accidental rotation if bumped.

• Anti-deflection 1/4"-20 connection between arm and clamp
• Silicone pads and rubber rings on clamp, ball joints, and arm ends
• Designed to stay put during normal use and incidental bumps

Which devices and mounting options are supported?

The kit includes two 1/4"-20 screws, a 1/4"-20 to 3/8"-16 adapter, and a phone holder that fits phones 5.5–8.5 cm wide. The crab-style clamp opens to 63.5 mm and its rotatable friction pads accommodate flat desks or round tubes like tripod legs and handles, making it versatile for cameras, lights, microphones, and monitors.

• Phone clamp fits most smartphones between 5.5–8.5 cm wide
• Two 1/4"-20 screws plus 1/4"-20 to 3/8"-16 adapter included
• Crab clamp opens to 63.5 mm; friction pads rotate for flat or round surfaces

How should I balance weight and adjust the joints?

The arm’s recommended payload is 600 g (21 oz). Because the arm is long, heavy devices placed far from the clamp increase torque on the joints; shorten the lever arm if using heavier phones or cameras. Each joint uses double-ball clamps so you can fine-tune angles independently for the best balance.

• Suggested maximum load: 600 g (21 oz)
• Adjust arm length and joint angles to reduce torque on ball heads
• Double-ball clamps allow independent angle adjustments at each joint

Who is this for: Creators who need a reliable overhead or side-mounted solution — vloggers, live streamers, craft and tutorial makers, remote workers who record desk demonstrations, and photographers who want a compact, adjustable boom without a floor stand. If you regularly shoot overhead content, need flexible clamping to desks or tubes, or require a longer reach than standard magic arms offer, this SMALLRIG kit provides a stable, protective setup for small cameras, phones, lights, and accessories.

• Materials and care: Full aluminum-alloy construction; avoid exceeding recommended load and periodically check fasteners for tightness.
• Support: SMALLRIG advises keeping load within 600 g and will respond to inquiries within 24 hours.
