These are 1/2" x 6" hex-head lag screws made from 304 (18-8) stainless steel, sold in a 20-piece pack for heavy-duty wood and exterior fastening tasks.
Designed for demanding carpentry and outdoor projects, SG TZH's lag screws combine corrosion-resistant 18-8 (304) stainless steel with a partial-thread profile and hexagon head for strong mechanical hold and easy installation with a wrench or socket. Their longer 6" length and robust 1/2" diameter provide deep bite into thick timbers, posts, and structural lumber where strength and longevity matter.
Made from 304 stainless steel (18-8), these lag screws resist rust and staining better than standard steel fasteners, making them suited for exterior use. They won’t corrode quickly when exposed to rain, humidity, or treated wood, though 316 stainless is preferred for severe saltwater exposure.
Each screw measures 1/2" in diameter and 6" overall length, with a wrench size of 3/4" for the hex head. The partial-thread design leaves a smooth shank portion to draw wood members together while the threaded tip bites into the receiving timber for a secure hold.
For best results, pre-drill a pilot hole sized to the screw’s minor diameter to prevent wood splitting and ensure proper seating. Use a socket or wrench on the 3/4" hex head, apply steady torque, and avoid over-tightening which can crush wood fibers or strip threads.
Offered in a 20-piece pack, SG TZH provides a balance of quality and quantity that fits both professional jobs and weekend builds. The combination of sturdy 304 stainless construction and precise hex-head machining makes them a dependable choice where long-lasting hardware is required.
Who is this for? These SG TZH 1/2" x 6" 304 stainless steel hex-head lag screws are aimed at carpenters, contractors, and serious DIYers who need durable, weather-resistant fasteners for structural woodwork, decks, pergolas, and outdoor fixtures. If you require heavy-duty timber connections with long-term corrosion resistance and easy wrench-driven installation, this 20-piece set provides an efficient, reliable solution.
Q: Are these screws suitable for pressure-treated wood?
A: Yes. The 304 stainless steel resists corrosion from most treated lumber, making them appropriate for outdoor deck and structural work.
Q: Do I need a pilot hole and what size?
A: A pilot hole is recommended. Match the hole to the screw's minor diameter—smaller for softwood, slightly larger for hardwoods to prevent splitting.
