Scorch Marker Heat-Activated Wood Burning Paint — 2 fl oz jar, Water-Based Non-Toxic Formula for Fast Permanent Pyrography

Scorch Marker Scorch Paint is a water-based, heat-activated wood burning paint that lets you paint designs and permanently burn them into wood using a heat gun.

Turn painted artwork into real wood-burned textures without a hot pen. This 2 fl oz jar of Scorch Marker formula is made for crafters who want fast, repeatable pyrography results: paint, heat, and a lasting charred finish appears where the paint sits. It’s non-toxic and cleans up with soap and water before activation, and it’s formulated to produce a deep burn that darkens faster than a traditional wood-burning tip.

How do I use Scorch Marker Scorch Paint for a finished wood-burn look?

Apply the paint to bare, dry wood in the pattern you want—freehand or with a stencil. Let it dry if you need to layer or tint, then activate the formula by passing a heat gun over the painted area until the surface chars and the design becomes permanent.

• Prep wood with Scorch Marker Wood Pretreatment for even results.
• Paint with small brushes for fine lines or foam sponges for large fills.
• Use a 1500-watt heat gun or the Scorch Marker Craft Heat Gun for optimal activation.
• Cleans up with soap and water before burning; permanent after heat.

What surfaces and projects are best for this heat-activated paint?

The paint is designed for unfinished, natural wood surfaces—signs, coasters, ornaments, and cutting boards. Because it is water-based and non-toxic, it’s suitable for kitchen items like cutting boards once fully activated and cured by heat.

• Works well on plywood, birch, basswood, pine, and hardwoods.
• Ideal for stenciled signage, personalized gifts, and small craft decor.
• Tintable with mica powder for custom color effects before burning.
• Not recommended for sealed or painted-over wood unless sanded to bare wood.

How much paint will I get from one 2 fl oz jar and how do I get best results?

One 2 fl oz jar covers many small projects—expect 30 or more items like ornaments or coasters depending on coverage. For crisp, dark results apply thinner coats for detail and thicker coats for deeper burns; the paint burns faster and darker than a pen and resists bleeding.

• One jar yields dozens of small projects; use sparingly on large surfaces.
• Thin layers for fine lines; build multiple thin coats for depth.
• Use mesh stencils for repeatable, sharp edges and design consistency.
• Activate with recommended heat tools and keep the gun moving to avoid scorching unevenly.
