Schumacher Electric 1.5A Battery Charger & Maintainer — 6V/12V Compact, Desulfation Mode

The Schumacher Electric SC1355 is a compact 1.5-amp charger and maintainer that charges 6V and 12V batteries, safely maintains them long-term, and includes a desulfation mode to help recover older batteries.

Designed for home garages and seasonal vehicles, the SC1355 brings simple, dependable battery care to motorists who want to avoid unexpected no-starts without spending on a pro-level charger. It works with standard, AGM, and deep-cycle batteries and combines automatic voltage recognition, multi-stage charging, and a smart trickle mode so you can connect it and leave it without worry. The unit ships with quick-connect clamps and ring terminals for fast setup and includes safety features like reverse polarity protection.

How does the SC1355 know whether to use 6V or 12V?

The charger automatically detects battery voltage upon connection, so no manual switching is required. This makes it a convenient grab-and-go option for mixed garages with motorcycles, lawn equipment, and cars.

• Automatic voltage sensing switches between 6V and 12V
• Quick-connect leads speed setup for different vehicles
• Indicator lights show charging status and errors

Can it safely maintain a battery over winter or during storage?

Yes — the smart trickle charge mode supplies a low, controlled current to keep batteries at optimal charge without overcharging. That feature makes the SC1355 suitable for seasonal storage like winterizing motorcycles and classic cars.

• Smart trickle charging prevents overcharge during long-term connection
• Multi-stage algorithms optimize charge based on battery condition
• Safe to leave connected for weeks or months for maintenance

Will the SC1355 help revive an old or sulfated battery?

The unit includes a desulfation mode designed to address sulfate buildup that can reduce battery performance. While results depend on the battery's condition, desulfation can sometimes restore partial capacity and delay replacement.

• Desulfation pulse cycles attempt to break down sulfate deposits
• Multi-stage charging helps balance and condition battery cells
• Delivers 1.5 amps for steady, safe charging of various battery types

What safety and convenience features does it include?

The SC1355 focuses on easy, low-risk operation: reverse polarity protection prevents damage from incorrect clamp hookups, and the included ring connectors give a tidy, permanent hookup option. A 6-foot power cord and 5-foot booster leads provide practical reach in typical garages.

• Reverse polarity protection guards against accidental misconnection
• Quick-connect clamps and ring terminals for temporary or semi-permanent hookups
• Compact footprint and straightforward controls for garage use

Who this is for: The Schumacher SC1355 is ideal for budget-conscious drivers, hobbyists, and homeowners who need a reliable, low-maintenance solution for battery upkeep. Choose it if you own seasonal or infrequently used vehicles (motorcycles, ATVs, boats, classic cars) or want a simple garage charger that protects batteries and reduces the chance of unexpected failure without requiring advanced setup.
