Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch brush-on latex paint Semi-Gloss White — fast-drying, durable finish for wood & metal

Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Semi-Gloss White is a water-based brush-on paint that delivers a smooth, durable finish on wood, metal, masonry and more for indoor and outdoor projects.

This versatile brush-on formula is designed to hide imperfections quickly, dry fast, and resist chipping and fading across a wide range of surfaces. Because it’s water-based and low-odor, it’s a practical choice for both workshop repairs and indoor touch-ups. The semi-gloss sheen minimizes texture while reflecting light enough to feel clean and refreshed without appearing overly shiny.

What surfaces can I use this paint on?

You can use Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch on many substrate types, indoors or out. It bonds well to prepared wood, metal, plaster, masonry and unglazed ceramic, giving a consistent finish across different materials.

• Wood: furniture, trim, shelving after sanding and cleaning
• Metal: railings, frames, and hardware with proper surface prep
• Plaster and masonry: primed or cleaned surfaces for interior/exterior walls
• Unglazed ceramic: decorative pieces and pots once degreased

How quickly does it dry and when can I recoat?

The paint dries to the touch rapidly, helping you finish projects sooner. Typical touch-dry time is about 30 minutes under normal conditions; recoating can usually be done after the surface is dry to the touch and tack-free.

• Touch dry in roughly 30 minutes under standard temperatures
• Allow longer drying in cold or humid conditions
• Light sanding between coats improves adhesion and smoothness
• Clean brushes and tools with soap and water while paint is wet

How durable is the finish and how do I maintain it?

The semi-gloss acrylic formulation resists chips and fading when applied correctly, making it suitable for items that see moderate wear. Maintenance is straightforward: keep the painted surface clean and avoid harsh abrasives to preserve sheen and color.

• Resists chipping and fading with proper prep and application
• Wipe clean with a mild detergent and soft cloth
• Touch up scuffs by lightly sanding and repainting the affected area
• Suitable for both decorative and functional pieces that require regular cleaning

What preparation and application steps produce the best result?

Good surface prep is the simplest way to ensure a lasting, uniform finish. Light sanding, degreasing and complete drying before painting helps the paint adhere evenly and reduces visible flaws.

• Sand with 180–200 grit to scuff glossy surfaces and smooth rough wood
• Wash with a degreaser to remove oils, dust and residues
• Allow the surface to dry fully before applying paint
• Apply with a quality brush for even coverage; thin coats reduce runs and improve hide
