Ranger Ready Repellents Permethrin Spray for Clothes & Gear — Scent Zero 24 fl oz, Long‑Lasting Tick & Mosquito Protection

Ranger Ready Permethrin Spray is an unscented, clothing-and-gear treatment formulated with 0.5% permethrin to repel and kill ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, black flies and other biting insects on contact.

This ready-to-use 24 fl oz sprayer treats clothing, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and other outdoor fabrics without added fragrances or DEET. The formula is designed to dry quickly, resist wash-off for multiple washes or extended sun exposure, and leave no staining or sticky residue on fabrics and plastic gear. It’s supplied in a fine-mist trigger bottle built for even coverage across garments and equipment.

How should I apply this permethrin spray to clothing and gear?

Apply outdoors or in a well-ventilated space, laying garments flat or hanging them to allow even misting. Hold the bottle 6–12 inches from fabric and spray until damp but not soaking; let items dry fully before wearing or storing. Treat both outer and inner layers for best coverage near cuffs, collars and pant hems.

• Spray distance: 6–12 inches for uniform coverage
• Dry time: allow complete drying before use
• Treats: shirts, pants, socks, hats, tents, sleeping bags and backpacks

How long does the protection last and how many washes will it survive?

The treated fabric maintains activity for up to 5 washings or about 40 days of sun exposure, whichever comes first. Longevity depends on laundering method, detergent type, and how frequently the treated item is worn in the field. Reapply after the specified number of washes or if exposure conditions are unusually heavy.

• Lasts up to 5 launderings
• Resists breakdown from typical sun exposure up to roughly 40 days
• Reapplication recommended after heavy soiling or repeated washings

Will this spray damage clothing, plastics, or outdoor gear materials?

Ranger Ready’s formula is DEET-free and formulated to be non-staining and non-damaging to most fabrics and plastics when used as directed. It dries to a clear finish without tackiness, making it safe for synthetic and natural fabrics as well as zippers and gear hardware. Always spot-test a small hidden area if treating delicate or vintage materials.

• Non-staining and quick-drying
• Safe for most fabrics, plastics and gear components
• Spot-test recommended for delicate items

How much area does one 24 fl oz bottle cover and what’s the spray pattern like?

One 24 oz trigger bottle treats roughly seven full outfits (seven shirts, seven pants, seven pairs of socks), depending on fabric thickness and application technique. The fine-mist trigger delivers consistent droplets for even distribution over large surfaces like outerwear and tents. Use multiple passes on seams, hems and high-contact areas for reliable protection.

• Coverage estimate: about 7 full outfits per bottle
• Trigger: fine-mist for even application
• Concentrate extra on collars, cuffs, and pant hems

It’s a practical choice for families preparing clothing and gear before outdoor trips, and for professionals who need consistent, fabric-safe protection across multiple garments and pieces of equipment.
