Purina Pro Plan Small Breed Senior Dog Food - Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice, 6 lb with Glucosamine & Probiotics

Purina Pro Plan Small Breed 7+ Shredded Blend Chicken and Rice is a nutrient-dense senior formula combining crunchy kibble and tender shredded pieces to support small-breed dogs age 7 and older.

As small dogs age, their nutritional needs change: they often require higher-quality protein for muscle maintenance, easier-to-chew bites, and ingredients that support joints, digestion and dental health. This 6 lb bag from Purina Pro Plan delivers a senior-focused recipe built around real chicken plus targeted nutrients like glucosamine, EPA and live probiotics. The recipe pairs bite-sized crunchy pieces with soft shredded morsels to keep mealtime interesting while packing balanced vitamins and minerals into each serving.

How does this food support muscle strength and heart health?

The formula emphasizes high-quality protein from real chicken to help maintain lean muscle mass, which is important for mobility and metabolism in older dogs. Balanced amino acids help support a healthy heart along with the overall protein profile.

• Real chicken listed as a primary ingredient for complete protein.
• High-protein formulation tailored for small-breed energy needs.
• Essential amino acids to help preserve muscle tissue and function.

Will it help my senior dog’s joints and mobility?

This recipe includes glucosamine and omega fatty acids such as EPA to contribute to joint comfort and movement support commonly sought in senior diets. While individual results vary, these nutrients are commonly used to support cartilage and joint surface health.

• Added glucosamine for cartilage support.
• EPA (an omega-3 fatty acid) to support joint function.
• Smaller kibble size reduces strain on the jaw during chewing.

How does the formula address digestive and dental needs?

Live probiotics are included to help maintain a stable gut environment and support digestion of nutrient-dense meals. The texture mix—crisp kibble plus tender shreds—encourages chewing, which can aid dental stimulation while making the bowl more palatable for picky or older eaters.

• Live probiotics to support beneficial gut bacteria and digestion.
• Crunchy pieces help provide mild dental abrasion during chewing.
• Shredded pieces add moisture-like texture to entice seniors with diminished appetite.

What essential minerals and vitamins are included for bone and overall health?

This product supplies calcium, phosphorus and other minerals important for maintaining bone strength and dental health in small breeds. A complete vitamin and mineral mix supports immune function, coat condition and everyday vitality suitable for dogs 7 and older.

• Calcium and phosphorus for bone and tooth maintenance.
• Balanced vitamins to support immune health and skin/coats.
• Formulated as a complete, balanced diet when fed according to feeding guidelines.
