Pressman Mancala Board Game — Folding Wood Travel Set with 48 Stones, 2-Player Family Strategy

Pressman Mancala is a folding wooden two-player board game that uses 48 stones and simple rules to deliver strategic, turn-based play for ages 6 and up.

This compact Mancala set from Pressman offers a modern, portable take on a centuries-old strategy game. The hinged wooden board folds in half for tidy storage and travel, and the included 48 plastic stones recreate the traditional sow-and-capture gameplay. Easy to learn yet full of tactical depth, this edition is designed for family game nights, classroom use, or quiet time while traveling.

How do you play Pressman Mancala?

Each turn a player scoops all stones from one of their pockets and drops them one-by-one into subsequent pockets, aiming to collect stones into their scoring store. Captures happen when the last dropped stone lands in an empty pocket on the player’s side and opposite pocket stones are taken. Games end when one side is empty and the player with the most stones wins.

• Set up: place all 48 stones evenly in the board pockets.
• Move: scoop, sow, and watch for capture opportunities.
• Endgame: collect remaining stones and compare totals to determine the winner.

What’s included and how is the board built?

This Pressman set contains a hinged wooden playing board, 48 durable plastic stones, and a rules leaflet. The wood board folds in half to conceal pieces inside for storage and to protect the playing surface during transport. Materials are chosen for repeated handling and family use.

• Hinged wood board folds closed for compact storage.
• 48 plastic stones in classic marble-like shapes.
• Printed instructions for quick setup and play variations.

Why is Mancala good for kids and adults?

Mancala combines counting with forward planning, giving players practice in basic arithmetic and strategic decision-making without complex rules. Sessions are typically short, which makes the game accessible for younger players while still challenging for experienced opponents. Because turns are simple and visible, it supports learning through play and social interaction.

• Encourages counting, pattern recognition, and planning skills.
• Short rounds fit classroom or family time constraints.
• Two-player format sharpens one-on-one strategy and focus.

How portable and durable is this Mancala set?

The foldable wooden board was designed for easy transport and storage: it closes to keep stones secure and takes minimal shelf or bag space. The stones are sturdy plastic for long life and repeated use, and all components store inside the folded board to avoid lost pieces. That makes it a convenient option for travel, picnics, or moving between rooms.

• Board folds closed to hold pieces inside for travel.
• Plastic stones resist chips and spills better than glass in a travel set.
• Compact footprint fits backpacks, shelves, or game closets.

Who is this for? Players who want a portable, tactile version of a time-honored strategy game will appreciate the Pressman Mancala set. It’s suitable for families looking to introduce children to turn-based strategy, teachers seeking hands-on counting activities, and adults who enjoy quick, competitive two-player games. If you need a compact board that stores easily and delivers repeated replay value, this set is built around accessibility and classic gameplay rather than electronic bells and whistles.
