If you need a reliable engineering plastic for prototypes, housings, or end-use components that must tolerate higher temperatures and mechanical stress, this ABS filament from Polymaker balances strength and printability. Manufactured from a bulk-polymerized ABS resin with reduced volatiles and supplied on a recycled cardboard spool inside a vacuum-sealed bag with desiccant, the spool arrives ready to print with minimized moisture-driven printing issues.
Polymaker ABS has a Vicat Softening Temperature around 104°C and is formulated for improved mechanical performance compared with simple commodity ABS. That means printed parts keep their shape and resist deformation at higher service temperatures and show better toughness under load.
This ABS works best with a heated bed, a suitably prepared printing surface, and controlled ambient temperatures to reduce warping. Use a raft or brim and slow the initial layer speed for larger parts; small changes in cooling and bed adhesion can dramatically improve first-layer success.
Polymaker ships this filament vacuum-sealed with a desiccant and a resealable bag so you can return the spool to dry conditions after opening. The cardboard spool and sealed outer box reduce handling damage and help keep the filament dry and tangle-free for consistent extrusion.
ABS typically emits stronger odors during printing than PLA and can be more prone to warping on home machines without enclosures or careful bed adhesion. For outdoor or UV-exposed parts, consider Polymaker ASA instead—ABS is better for high-temperature indoor applications and functional parts.
Who is this for: Designers, engineers, and advanced hobbyists looking for a robust, heat-tolerant 3D printing material for functional prototypes, mechanical components, and indoor end-use parts. If you need higher-temperature performance, impact resistance, and reliable spool packaging for moisture-sensitive filaments, Polymaker ABS 1.75mm 1KG in black is a strong, practical choice.
Q: What nozzle and bed temperatures work best for Polymaker ABS?
A: Use typical ABS nozzle temperatures per your printer and a heated bed; exact temps depend on your machine—consult printer guidelines and test a small print first.
Q: How should I store the filament after opening?
A: Return the spool to its resealable bag with the desiccant and keep it in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture absorption.
