PetSafe SSSCAT automatic spray pet deterrent — motion-activated, odorless, compact

The PetSafe SSSCAT Automatic Spray Pet Deterrent is a motion-activated, odorless spray device that gently discourages cats and dogs from entering off-limits areas.

Keep countertops, furniture, trash cans and plants pet-free without constant supervision. The SSSCAT unit detects movement up to three feet away and delivers a quick, odorless burst of spray as a short, harmless reminder to stop unwanted behavior. Each replaceable can provides up to 120 sprays, and the compact battery-powered device is simple to aim, set up and maintain.

How does SSSCAT deter pets without harsh correction?

SSSCAT uses a short, stainless spray that pets find surprising but not painful, interrupting the behavior and redirecting attention. Because it’s motion-triggered and brief, pets usually learn to avoid the area over repeated exposures without prolonged distress.

• Motion sensor range: up to 3 feet for reliable activation.
• Odorless, quick spray that lasts milliseconds.
• Non-contact operation avoids physical punishment or touch.
• Adjustable placement to target counters, furniture, or bins.

What do I need to install and maintain the device?

Setup is straightforward: position the unit where the pet approaches, insert four AAA batteries (not included), and install the supplied spray canister. When the canister is spent, swaps are quick using the same refill mechanism, so downtime is minimal.

• Power: 4 AAA batteries (replace as needed).
• Refills: one replaceable canister gives ~120 sprays.
• Placement: mounts or freestanding placement for angled coverage.
• Low maintenance: simple canister and battery changes.

Where should I use SSSCAT to get best results?

Use SSSCAT indoors at sites where your pet repeatedly explores or damages items—kitchen counters, houseplants, sofas, or trash bins. Start with short supervised sessions to pair the spray with the forbidden area; pets typically learn to avoid it after consistent, repeated exposures.

• Ideal spots: counters, sofas, houseplants, and garbage cans.
• Keep device out of a pet’s direct reach to avoid tampering.
• Combine with positive reinforcement for alternative behaviors.
• Avoid using near food prep areas or directly on bedding surfaces.

How long does one refill and battery set last?

One standard refill contains about 120 sprays, sufficient for many short training cycles depending on how often the unit is triggered. Battery life varies with frequency of use; typical household use yields several weeks to months before replacing AAAs is necessary.

• Refill volume: approximately 120 sprays per canister.
• Battery type: four AAA batteries—life depends on triggers per day.
• Low-cost upkeep: inexpensive batteries and refill cans available.
• Replace canister quickly with the tool-free refill mechanism.

Who is this for: PetSafe SSSCAT is aimed at pet owners who want a gentle, no-touch way to keep cats and small dogs away from specific indoor areas. It’s useful for households training pets to avoid counters, furniture, trash or plants, and for owners who want an easy-to-maintain, motion-activated solution that complements positive training methods.
