Peaceable Kingdom Monkey Around toddler activity game — 2+ movement, gross-motor learning with beanbag banana

Monkey Around is an active, parent‑led first board game designed to get toddlers moving, learning simple body parts and gross‑motor skills while having playful interaction.

This lightweight, award‑winning activity game from Peaceable Kingdom turns short bursts of movement into playful learning moments you can enjoy with a young child. Designed for ages 2 and up, the set includes chunky cards with action prompts and a soft beanbag banana that encourages tossing, catching, balancing and imitation. The game is compact enough for play at home, daycare, or on the go and focuses on movement, listening and vocabulary without complicated rules.

How does Monkey Around help my toddler get moving?

The game invites children to follow simple actions—hugs, hops, balances and marching—so movement is integrated into play rather than forced. Each card prompts an easy-to-understand physical action that encourages coordination and body awareness, ideal for developing gross motor skills through repetition and imitation.

• Cards show clear actions that prompt short movement bouts.
• Beanbag banana used for tossing and catching practice.
• Actions vary from gentle (hugs) to active (hopping, marching) to build stamina.
• Parent-led turns keep the pace predictable and supportive.

What learning skills does this game support?

Beyond physical play, Monkey Around reinforces listening, vocabulary, matching and spatial awareness. Young children learn to identify body parts, follow directions, and take turns—skills that build early classroom readiness and social interaction without formal instruction.

• Body‑part recognition through action prompts.
• Listening and following single‑step instructions.
• Matching and turn‑taking opportunities during play.
• Vocabulary expansion with simple action words parents can repeat.

How easy is it to play with a two‑year‑old or a younger child?

The rules are intentionally minimal so caregivers can adapt the game to a child’s pace. If a child can’t throw or catch yet, adults can offer gentle help—shaping hands to receive the banana or standing closer for easier tosses—so success stays fun and stress‑free.

• Simple prompts suitable for short attention spans.
• Flexible difficulty—parents modify actions to match skill level.
• Quick rounds that fit short play windows for toddlers.
• Durable, toddler‑sized components made for small hands.

Why have reviewers and educators recommended this game?

Monkey Around has received multiple toy awards for combining developmentally appropriate design with playful interaction. Its emphasis on movement, imitation and parent‑child engagement aligns with early learning priorities, making it a favorite for families and group‑care settings alike.

• Recognized by independent toy award panels for design and play value.
• Recommended for encouraging active, social play rather than passive screen time.
• Compact, durable components for repeated use in homes and classrooms.
• Open‑ended play supports different ages and abilities.
