Park Tool CB-4 Bio ChainBrite Bicycle Chain Cleaner & Degreaser — 16 fl oz, Plant-Based Biodegradable

Park Tool CB-4 Bio ChainBrite is a 100% plant-based, biodegradable degreaser designed to strip heavy grease and grime from bicycle chains and components quickly and safely.

Made from natural, plant-derived ingredients, CB-4 Bio ChainBrite targets the stubborn oil, dirt, and road grime that builds up on drivetrains and other bike parts. The formula is effective as a dedicated chain cleaner and doubles as a general-purpose bicycle degreaser. Packaged in a convenient 16 fl oz (472 ml) bottle with a flip-top lid, it provides controlled, spill-free application for workshop or at-home maintenance sessions.

How does Park Tool CB-4 Bio ChainBrite clean greasy chains?

The biodegradable formula penetrates and lifts old lubricant, dirt, and contaminants from chain links and rollers without relying on harsh solvents. It breaks down greasy deposits so they can be wiped or rinsed away, restoring shifting performance and lowering friction when combined with proper relubrication.

• Plant-based surfactants dissolve oils and grime.
• Safe for chain cleaning tools and brushes.
• Works on cassettes, derailleurs, chainrings, and pedals.
• Rinses or wipes clean for quick turnaround.

Will this degreaser harm bike finishes or components?

CB-4 Bio ChainBrite was developed to be effective without aggressive, corrosive solvents. When used as directed, it is safe on metal, aluminum, steel, and most painted surfaces, but sensitive finishes and bearings should be protected and rinsed promptly.

• Non-corrosive, plant-based ingredients reduce risk to metals.
• Avoid prolonged contact with sealed bearings and delicate decals.
• Rinse or wipe excess residue to prevent attraction of new dirt.

How do I use it for best results?

Apply directly from the flip-top bottle to the chain, drivetrain, or a cleaning brush. Agitate with a brush or chain-cleaning device, then wipe off loosened grime and either rinse with water or dry before applying fresh lubricant to the chain.

• Use a brush or dedicated chain cleaner for thorough contact.
• Wipe with a clean rag and allow to dry before oiling.
• Follow with a quality chain lubricant to reduce wear and friction.
• Keep bottle upright and cap closed to preserve formula.

What are the practical benefits of a biodegradable degreaser?

Choosing a plant-based cleaner reduces reliance on harsh chemicals while still delivering strong degreasing power. It lowers environmental impact in routine maintenance and is easier to handle in indoor or small-space workshops.

• 100% biodegradable formulation minimizes eco-impact.
• Lower odor and reduced solvent fumes compared with harsh cleaners.
• Suitable for home mechanics who prefer greener products.
• Convenient 16 fl oz bottle for multiple maintenance sessions.
