Oxbow Western Timothy Hay 90 oz — USA-grown high-fiber long-stem forage for rabbits & guinea pigs

Oxbow Western Timothy Hay is a 90-ounce, USA-grown, high-fiber grass hay formulated to support the digestive and dental health of rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other small herbivores.

Oxbow combines three decades of veterinary collaboration and specialized hay-growing to deliver a fragrant, all-natural Timothy hay harvested from family-run farms in the western United States. This product is hand-sorted and hand-packed to provide consistent, long-stem forage that encourages natural chewing behavior and supports steady wear of teeth. The hay arrives dry, sweet-smelling, and ready to offer as daily forage alongside your pet’s fortified food.

Why choose Western Timothy over other hay types?

Western Timothy is valued for its balanced fiber content, palatable aroma, and long stems that promote chewing. Compared with alfalfa, Timothy is lower in protein and calcium, making it more suited to adult rabbits and guinea pigs that need steady fiber rather than rich growth nutrients.

• High in indigestible fiber to maintain gut motility and healthy digestion
• Lower protein and calcium than legume hays, reducing urinary stone risk
• Long, coarse stems help grind and wear teeth naturally
• Sweet aroma improves acceptance by picky eaters

How should I feed Oxbow Western Timothy Hay every day?

Offer large handfuls of hay daily and replace any soiled material to keep forage fresh and appealing. Make hay freely available at all times for adult rabbits and guinea pigs; young, pregnant or nursing animals may need different balances, so follow any veterinarian guidance for those life stages.

• Provide constant access for adult small herbivores
• Remove and replace damp or dirty hay promptly
• Mix with other grass hays to introduce variety and texture
• Keep in a cool, dry place to preserve aroma and nutritional value

What makes this Oxbow hay reliably high quality?

Oxbow coordinates its growers and trains harvest teams to follow specific harvesting, drying, and packing protocols. Each bale is hand-sorted and packed to reduce dust and foreign material, and growers focus on timothy cultivars chosen for consistent fiber and palatability.

• Grown on Oxbow-affiliated family farms in the USA
• Harvested and cured to retain natural aroma and nutrients
• Hand-sorted and hand-packed for quality control
• No additives, preservatives, or binders—100% natural hay

How will this hay support my pet’s health and daily routine?

Daily access to long-stem Timothy hay helps maintain dental wear through continuous chewing and supports healthy digestive transit with high-fiber content. It also provides environmental enrichment, encouraging foraging behavior and reducing boredom.

• Promotes dental abrasion, reducing overgrown teeth issues
• Supports normal gut motility with indigestible fiber
• Encourages foraging and natural behaviors for mental stimulation
• Works well combined with fortified pellets and fresh greens

Who is this for: Oxbow Western Timothy Hay is intended for owners of adult rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other small herbivores who want a reliably grown, vet-recommended daily forage. It’s a good fit for pet parents seeking a USA-grown, hand-sorted hay with consistent fiber content and a pleasing aroma. If your animal has special dietary needs (very young, nursing, or specific health issues), consult your veterinarian about hay blends or supplemental feeding strategies.
