Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Hide N' Slide Interactive Dog Treat Puzzle, 11.6" - Level 2 Mental Enrichment

The Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Dog Hide N' Slide is a Level 2 interactive treat puzzle that challenges dogs to slide and swivel pieces to reveal hidden rewards.

This 11.6" enrichment toy turns snack time into a sniff-and-solve activity that taps into a dog’s natural foraging instincts. Designed for small to large dogs, the Hide N' Slide combines multiple hiding spots with movable blocks and flippers so canine problem-solvers stay engaged longer. Constructed from food-safe materials without BPA, PVC, lead, or phthalates, it’s easy to load, adjust and clean—making it a practical addition to play routines and mealtime.

How does the Hide N' Slide keep my dog mentally stimulated?

The puzzle presents a variety of hiding spots and motion types—sliding tiles and rotating flippers—that require sniffing, pawing, and strategy. By encouraging dogs to search and manipulate pieces, the toy promotes mental effort that reduces boredom and boosts focus.

• Multiple compartments to hide treats or kibble
• Combination of sliding and swiveling actions for varied challenges
• Level 2 difficulty—suitable for dogs who have tried simpler puzzles
• Tips included to raise or lower difficulty as skills develop

Will this toy help if my dog eats too fast?

Yes—the Hide N' Slide can slow down meal consumption by dispersing kibble into several sections that must be uncovered. Slower eating reduces gulping and makes mealtime last longer, adding both physical pacing and mental work.

• Holds approximately 1/4 cup of food or treats
• Distributes portions across multiple wells to lengthen feeding time
• Encourages sniffing and problem-solving instead of fast swallowing

Is the puzzle safe and easy to maintain?

The unit is molded from durable, food-safe plastics and designed for everyday supervised play. It’s free of common hazardous chemicals and wipes or rinses clean quickly, but it should be inspected regularly and never left as an unsupervised chew toy.

• Made from BPA-, PVC-, lead- and phthalate-free materials
• Simple to rinse or wipe clean after use
• Not indestructible—supervise play and remove if damaged

How do I choose the right difficulty for my dog?

Start by using visible, easy-to-reach treats so your dog learns the mechanics, then increase hiding difficulty by tucking rewards deeper or closing off some openings. The toy’s design supports stepwise progression so you can match challenges to your dog’s learning pace.

• Begin with obvious treats on top of compartments
• Gradually hide treats under tiles and behind flippers
• Mix small kibble with larger treats to vary motivation

Who is this for? The Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Dog Hide N' Slide suits pet owners who want to enrich daily routines with purposeful play. It’s made for dogs that need extra mental stimulation—pups who are bored indoors, fast eaters who benefit from slower meals, or curious learners building problem-solving skills. Ideal for households with small, medium, or large dogs, it’s a supervised activity toy that helps redirect energy into safe, focused engagement.
