Onyx Manual Inflatable Belt Pack Life Jacket M-16 — USCG Approved, Low-Profile 17 lb Buoyancy

Onyx M-16 is a lightweight, USCG-approved manual inflatable belt pack life jacket that stays compact on your waist until you need instant buoyancy.

Designed for paddlers, anglers, sailors and recreational boaters, the Onyx M-16 manual inflatable belt pack offers an unobtrusive flotation option that frees your arms and shoulders for activity. It inflates by pulling a manual handle, with an oral inflation backup, and stores small essentials in a zippered pocket. The low-profile belt sits comfortably under or over clothing and includes reflective piping and a durable carry mesh bag for storage.

How does the Onyx M-16 inflate and how much buoyancy does it give?

This inflates primarily via a manual pull handle that triggers a 16 g CO2 cylinder, giving immediate buoyancy. If needed, an oral inflation tube lets you add extra air for more lift.

• Primary manual inflation with pull handle and reliable Relia Pull Guide
• 16 g CO2 provides about 17 pounds of buoyancy on automatic charge
• Oral inflation available to increase buoyancy up to roughly 26.5 pounds
• Designed to be rearmed and reused with Onyx rearming kit #1370

Is this life jacket approved and who can wear it?

The M-16 is U.S. Coast Guard approved for users 16 years and older and weighing more than 80 pounds. It fits most waist sizes and secures with an adjustable body belt and front buckle.

• USCG-approved for safety compliance
• Recommended for ages 16+ and weights over 80 lb
• Universal fit up to a 52-inch waist with adjustable webbing
• Secure buckle closure and attached D-ring for accessories

Will it interfere with paddling, casting or movement?

The low-profile belt pack is made to remain unobtrusive so you can paddle, cast, or move freely. At under one pound it’s small enough to sit snugly at your waist without bulk.

• Ultra-sleek, low-profile design for unencumbered motion
• Comfortable fit that can be worn over or under clothing
• Mesh storage bag for compact transport and dry storage
• Reflective piping increases visibility without adding bulk

What maintenance and rearming steps should I know?

Inflatable PFDs require periodic checks and proper rearming after activation. Follow the Owner’s Manual for arming instructions and use the Onyx rearming kit to replace the spent cylinder and components.

• Inspect cylinder, stitching and housing regularly before each use
• Use Onyx Rearming Kit #1370 to restore the unit after inflation
• Practice arming/disarming with an extra rearming kit to gain familiarity
• Replace CO2 cylinder and components per manufacturer guidance
