NOCO Group 27 12V Battery Box BG27 — Snap-Top, Ventilated Marine/RV Housing with Mounting Tray

The NOCO BG27 is a rugged snap-top Group 27 battery box that secures and ventilates 12V automotive, marine, RV and deep-cycle batteries while preventing terminal shorts and acid leaks.

Designed for boats, campers, travel trailers, and on-road vehicles, the BG27 brings a reinforced, easy-install housing for Group 27 batteries. Its snap-lock lid, honeycomb-reinforced construction and multiple cable entry options prioritize safety and durability without complicated mounting steps. The box meets USCG 183.420 and ABYC E-10.7 guidelines and ships with a mounting tray, hold-down strap and screws for a complete installation.

How does the BG27 make installation faster and more secure?

NOCO redesigned the mounting system so you can install the battery box either directly or with the included strap. Pre-drilled internal pilot holes let you fasten the tray straight to the boat or vehicle floor for a strapless setup, while the 48-inch hold-down strap and strap mount provide extra retention in high-vibration or rough-water conditions.

• Pre-drilled internal pilot holes for direct mounting without a strap
• Included 48-inch hold-down strap for demanding installations
• Mounting tray and four self-tapping screws for immediate installation

What protective features prevent shorts, spills, and environmental damage?

The BG27 is built to resist acid, oil, gas, and UV exposure while maintaining structural integrity in cold temperatures. The snap-top design covers terminals to reduce accidental shorting, and the box collects any minor battery leakage to keep it away from surrounding surfaces. Optional ventilation holes help manage heat and gas buildup without compromising containment.

• Snap-lock lid shields battery terminals from accidental contact
• Honeycomb lattice reinforcement for impact resistance down to -20°F
• Chemical- and UV-resistant construction to withstand marine conditions
• Optional vents to improve airflow and gas dispersal

Will the BG27 work with different battery types and cable configurations?

Yes—the BG27 accepts Group 27 12V batteries including starting, deep-cycle, and compatible lithium-ion units. It features expanded cable entry ports on the front and sides so you can route cables neatly and avoid interference with the lid. This flexibility makes the box suitable for automotive, marine, RV and trolling motor applications.

• Fits Group 27 batteries: automotive, marine, deep-cycle, lithium-compatible
• Front and side cable entry ports for versatile routing options
• Room to accommodate common terminal and connector orientations

How durable is the BG27 for marine and outdoor use?

NOCO engineered the BG27 for extended outdoor service with a reinforced shell and robust snap closure. The honeycomb structure adds stiffness without extra weight, and materials resist cracking in low temperatures and degradation from UV exposure. Whether installed in a boat bilge or an RV compartment, the BG27 stands up to vibration, moisture, and fuel/oil exposure common in mobile environments.

• Honeycomb-reinforced design for high-impact resistance
• Material rated for cold, UV, chemical and oil exposure
• Snap-top clamps for repeated access and secure closure

Who is this for: The NOCO BG27 is aimed at boat owners, RVers, van and camper converters, and mechanics who need a durable, code-compliant battery enclosure for Group 27 12V batteries. Choose the BG27 if you want a simplified installation that doesn’t sacrifice protection—whether you’re securing a starter battery in a car, a deep-cycle unit in a pontoon, or a lithium pack in a travel trailer.
