Murphy's Naturals Mosquito & Tick Repellent Spray — 6 fl oz (2-Pack), plant-based oil of lemon eucalyptus

Murphy's Naturals Mosquito & Tick Bug Repellent Spray is a plant-based, EPA-registered topical spray that helps reduce mosquito and tick landings using oil of lemon eucalyptus.

Designed for outdoor time, this two-bottle set delivers an alternative to synthetic repellents by relying on oil of lemon eucalyptus combined with water and corn-derived ethanol. The formula aims to block the scents that attract biting insects rather than act as a conventional chemical barrier. It's packaged for easy spritz application and formulated so it won't weaken fabrics or equipment the way some chemical repellents can.

How long does protection last after a single application?

Protection duration varies by insect: the spray provides multi-hour coverage against common outdoor pests depending on species and exposure. Reapply as conditions warrant — heavy sweating, water exposure, or rubbing clothing can reduce effectiveness sooner.

• Up to six hours of mosquito repellency under typical conditions
• About four hours of protection against deer ticks
• Over eight hours of repellency reported for lone star and brown dog ticks
• Reapply after swimming, heavy perspiration, or extended outdoor activity

What ingredients are in this repellent and why do they matter?

The formula contains just three components: oil of lemon eucalyptus, purified water, and corn-derived ethanol. Oil of lemon eucalyptus is a plant-derived active component recognized for its insect-repelling properties, while the simple base reduces the risk of fabric damage and limits unnecessary additives.

• Oil of lemon eucalyptus: plant-derived active ingredient
• Water: solvent and carrier for even application
• Corn-derived ethanol: helps spread and dry the formula without plasticizing fabrics
• No DEET, reducing concern for polymer damage to gear and clothing

Is this safe for children and what are usage recommendations?

The spray is formulated for both kids and adults and is EPA-registered, but it is not registered for children under three in some jurisdictions. Apply according to label directions, avoiding eyes and open wounds, and use sparingly on young children — spray on hands first and then apply to their skin to limit contact with the face.

• EPA-registered formulation intended for general family use
• Not registered in California for use on children under three — follow local guidance
• Apply externally only; avoid eyes, mouth, and irritated skin
• Follow label for reapplication intervals and amount to use

Who is this for? Outdoor enthusiasts, families, and anyone seeking a plant-forward alternative to traditional chemical repellents will find this spray useful. It suits hikers, gardeners, campers, dog walkers, and parents who want a DEET-free option that minimizes impact on clothing and gear while offering hours of deterrence against biting mosquitoes and several tick species.
