Murphy's Naturals Citronella Mosquito Repellent Incense Sticks, 24-Count — 10-ft Outdoor Protection, Plant-Based Bamboo Core

Murphy's Naturals Citronella Mosquito Repellent Incense Sticks are plant-based mosquito-repelling sticks that burn evenly to create a 10-foot outdoor protection zone.

These incense-style sticks combine citronella with complementary essential oils on a sustainable bamboo core to help reduce mosquito activity around patios, campsites, and backyard gatherings. Each stick is designed to burn for more than two hours and can be placed around seating areas to form a perimeter of scented protection without sprays or aerosols.

How long will one burn and what area does it cover?

Each stick burns for roughly two hours or a bit longer under calm conditions, releasing its essential-oil blend as it smolders. When arranged around a seating area, the sticks create a roughly 10-foot radius of scented coverage intended to discourage mosquitoes from entering that zone.

• Typical burn time: 2+ hours per stick
• Recommended coverage: about a 10-foot protection radius
• Best used by arranging a ring or spacing sticks every few feet

What ingredients are used and how are they powered?

The formula relies on a combination of plant-derived essential oils—citronella, rosemary, lemongrass, peppermint, and cedarwood—rather than synthetic insecticides. The oils are infused into a smooth-burning bamboo core with no questionable fillers, creating a fragranced smoldering stick.

• Primary oils: citronella, rosemary, lemongrass, peppermint, cedarwood
• Core: bamboo for even burn and easy extinguishing
• No unspecified fillers listed; plant-forward formulation

Where and how should I use these sticks safely?

Place the sticks outdoors where wind is minimal and people will not pass directly through the smoke stream. Use holders or embed ends in sand or dirt so the sticks remain stable; holders are sold separately. Avoid using near flammable materials and never leave burning sticks unattended.

• Ideal locations: patios, decks, around firepits, campsites
• Placement tips: create a perimeter, keep away from flammable objects
• Disposal: extinguish in sand or dirt and allow to cool before discarding

Can these sticks replace topical repellents or other measures?

These incense sticks provide a scented perimeter that can lower mosquito presence in a defined outdoor space, but they work best as part of a layered approach. Combining perimeter sticks with source reduction (removing standing water) and personal protection methods offers more complete coverage for outdoor events.

• Best as an area-treatment complement, not a sole protection for all situations
• Use alongside environmental controls and personal repellents when needed
• Especially useful for evenings and social outdoor gatherings

Who is this for: Murphy's Naturals Citronella Mosquito Repellent Incense Sticks are geared toward outdoor hosts, campers, and families who prefer plant-based, low-chemical options to create a more comfortable backyard or campsite atmosphere. If you want an easy way to establish an odor-forward perimeter for short-term outdoor use—especially during dusk and evening activities—these sticks offer a simple, bamboo-core option to try.
