The MSR PocketRocket 2 is an ultralight, fast-boiling backpacking canister stove built for minimalist campers and travelers who need reliable heat on the trail.

Designed for fast-and-light adventures, the PocketRocket 2 from MSR delivers dependable boil times and a wide simmer range in a tiny, easily packed package. It attaches to standard self-sealing isobutane-propane canisters so you can find fuel in most countries, and its fold-out serrated supports accept a variety of pot sizes for everything from freeze-dried meals to fresh-cooked dinner.

How quickly will this stove boil water for my group?

The PocketRocket 2 reaches a rolling boil rapidly—about 3.5 minutes for one liter—making it efficient for solo cooks or small groups. High-performance fuel and the stove’s focused burner head maximize heat transfer so you spend less time waiting.

• Boils 1 liter in ~3.5 minutes under standard conditions
• High-intensity burner concentrates heat for fast cooking
• Efficient for single-person meals and quick hot drinks

Can I control the flame for simmering or delicate cooking?

Yes—the PocketRocket 2 provides a broad flame range so you can go from a gentle simmer to a full boil. The flame control valve lets you fine-tune heat output for sauces, reheating, or melting chocolate without scorching.

• Smooth valve control for low-heat simmering up to high boil
• Serrated pot supports improve stability for small pans and kettles
• Good for simple gourmet techniques on the trail

How portable and durable is this stove for travel and trekking?

The stove is engineered for ultralight packing and rugged use. The bare PocketRocket 2 weighs just 2.6 ounces and folds down to pocket size, while the included hard case or stuff sack protects the unit during travel and transport.

• Stove weight: 2.6 oz; with hard case 4.2 oz (PR 2 model)
• Packs down to roughly 2 x 2 x 3 inches for minimalist kits
• Simple, sturdy design favored by alpine and backpacking users

What fuel does it use and is fuel easy to source globally?

The PocketRocket 2 runs on threaded, self-sealing isobutane-propane canisters, a common fuel format available in most countries. Because the canisters are self-sealing, you can safely attach and detach them without pump priming or pressurizing.

• Compatible with standard screw-on isobutane-propane canisters (not included)
• Self-sealing canisters let you change stoves without fuel leaks
• Widely available for international travel and backcountry resupply
