Motorola Nursery Audio Baby Monitor AM21 — No WiFi DECT Private Connection, 1000 ft Range, Portable Battery Parent Unit

The Motorola Nursery AM21 is a simple, no-WiFi audio baby monitor using secure DECT technology to deliver clear, long-range sound and cry alerts for private home monitoring.

The AM21 pairs a high-sensitivity baby unit with a portable parent receiver to keep you connected without relying on apps or home networks. Designed for families who prefer a straightforward, privacy-first solution, this monitor emphasizes reliable voice transmission, battery-powered portability, and easy-to-read indicators. Its controls are intuitive, so you can focus on your child instead of setup menus.

How clear and private is the audio connection?

The AM21 uses DECT wireless technology to provide a dedicated channel for audio transmission, which reduces interference from other household devices. Because it doesn't use your WiFi or cloud services, audio stays local between the two units for enhanced privacy. Expect consistent voice clarity across typical home layouts.

• Secure DECT link between baby and parent units for private audio.
• Low interference compared with shared WiFi or Bluetooth channels.
• Clear voice pickup from small noises to louder vocalizations.

What range and coverage can I expect around the house?

This monitor supports up to 1000 feet of line-of-sight range, which covers most multi-room homes and yards. Actual indoor range varies with walls and floors, but the unit will give out-of-range alerts to let you know when signal weakens. For multi-level houses, placement near stairways or central hubs improves reception.

• Up to 1000 ft theoretical line-of-sight coverage for freedom of movement.
• LED and audio warnings when you move beyond reliable reception.
• Best performance when baby unit is placed centrally in the nursery.

How does the monitor help me notice when my baby needs attention?

The AM21 includes a high-sensitivity microphone and cry detection, which highlights louder sounds and alerts you when your baby begins to cry. Visual LED indicators and adjustable volume on the parent unit make it simple to see and hear activity at a glance. This setup helps you prioritize responses without constant checking.

• Built-in microphone tuned to pick up subtle and louder noises.
• Cry detection triggers visual and audible alerts on the parent unit.
• Manual volume control to match your listening preferences and environment.

How portable and easy to use is the parent unit?

The portable parent receiver runs on two AAA batteries (not included), giving you the flexibility to move around the home without needing a wall outlet. Its compact design and straightforward buttons let you adjust volume, power, and monitor status quickly. LED indicators display power, sound activity, and signal status for fast, at-a-glance information.

• Battery-powered parent unit for room-to-room mobility.
• Simple controls for immediate adjustments without apps.
• LED alerts for power, sound detection, and range status.

Who is this for: The Motorola Nursery AM21 is aimed at parents and caregivers who want dependable, private audio monitoring without the complexity of apps or cloud services. It's a good fit for households seeking straightforward setup, long-range indoor coverage, and a portable parent unit for daily use. If you prefer an audio-only system focused on privacy and ease, the AM21 delivers practical monitoring features in a compact package.
