Master Lock U-Lock Bike Lock 7-1/4-inch with 4-foot Looped Cable, Black Hardened Steel Double-Locking

The Master Lock 8385D is a keyed U-lock and 4-foot looped cable combo built from hardened steel to give everyday outdoor bike, e-bike, and motorcycle security with convenient transport and flexible locking reach.

When you need a reliable, no-frills solution to secure a bicycle or small motorcycle, the Master Lock 8385D pairs a compact U-lock with a detachable looped cable and a mounting bracket for easy commuting. The design focuses on resisting cutting and prying with a double-locking shackle and a hardened steel body, while the included 4-foot cable gives reach to lock wheels, accessories, or awkward frame positions to fixed objects. Two keys are supplied for access, and the black finish keeps the look understated.

How does the U-lock protect my bike from common theft attempts?

The hardened steel body and double-locking shackle increase resistance to bolt cutters and leverage tools by reducing exposed weak points. The compact 7-1/4" lock size makes it practical to lock both frame and rear wheel to a staple or post when position allows.

• Hardened steel construction reduces cutting risk.
• Double locking shackle secures both sides for better pry resistance.
• 8-inch shackle length, 4-inch width, and 0.75-inch diameter balance security and portability.
• Keyed mechanism included — two keys provided for convenience.

When should I use the looped 4-foot cable included with the lock?

The looped cable extends the lock’s reach so you can secure wheels, accessories, or awkward frame geometries that the U-lock alone can’t surround. It’s best used in tandem with the U-lock: thread the cable through a wheel or accessory and then secure the cable and frame with the U-lock to a fixed object.

• 4-foot length adds versatile reach for wheels and racks.
• Looped end makes quick attachment to the U-lock or fixed points simple.
• Useful for securing panniers, helmets, or both wheels on multi-part bikes.
• Compact when coiled; stores on the carrier bracket or in a bag.

How easy is it to carry and operate while commuting?

The package includes a carrier bracket designed for mounting to the bike frame so you can transport the lock without bulky bags. Operation is straightforward: insert the U-shackle into the lock body and use one of the two supplied keys to secure or release it.

• Carrier bracket attaches to frame for ride-along convenience.
• Two keys included — keep a spare for home or pocket.
• Moderate weight for daily carry with practical size for most bikes.
• Black finish blends with most bike styles and accessories.

What dimensions and specs should I check before buying?

Confirm that the shackle dimensions and cable length meet the way you typically lock: the shackle is sized to fit many frame-and-wheel combos, and the cable adds flexibility for more complex locking scenarios.

• Shackle length: 8 inches; width: 4 inches; diameter: 0.75 inches.
• U-lock overall listed as 7-1/4" body size for portability.
• Cable length: 4 feet with looped end for versatile reach.
• Package includes lock, cable, carrier bracket, and two keys.
