mace Guard Alaska Bear Spray 9 oz — 20% OC Max Strength, Fogger Pattern & Holster for Hiking

Mace Guard Alaska Bear Deterrent Spray is a maximum-strength 9 oz bear pepper spray with a fogger pattern that delivers up to 20% OC protection at about 20 feet, reaching as far as 40 feet in favorable conditions.

Designed for hikers, campers, hunters and anyone who spends time in bear country, this canister pairs a potent 20% oleoresin capsicum (OC) wildlife-safe formula with a fogger spray pattern and a finger-loop handle for rapid deployment. The 9 oz capacity provides multiple seconds of continuous spray time, and the included heavy-duty nylon holster keeps the canister accessible on belt or pack. The fogger pattern helps create a protective cloud so you can create distance and retreat safely.

How far will this spray reach and how long does it last?

The Guard Alaska fogger-style spray reliably covers about 20 feet under normal conditions and can reach up to 40 feet with a favorable tailwind, allowing you to engage a threat from a safe distance. A full canister delivers up to roughly nine seconds of total spray time, depending on burst length and environmental factors.

• Effective range: typically 20 feet, up to 40 feet in wind-assisted conditions
• Total spray time: approximately 9 seconds per canister
• Spray pattern: fogger/cloud for broad area coverage

What is inside the canister and is it wildlife safe?

This product contains 20% oleoresin capsicum (OC) formulated specifically as a wildlife deterrent — concentrated to produce intense heat and irritation that encourages an aggressive animal to disengage. The formula is intended to deter without relying on lethal force, giving you time to move away from danger.

• Active ingredient: 20% OC (oleoresin capsicum)
• Designed as a wildlife-safe deterrent rather than a firearm alternative
• Fogger delivery maximizes area coverage for moving targets

How do I carry and deploy the Mace Guard Alaska safely?

The canister features a finger-loop handle for a secure grip and quick aim, plus an orange safety wedge that must be removed before pressing the actuator. A heavy-duty nylon holster with hook-and-loop closure is included so the spray stays accessible on your belt or pack but won’t come free accidentally.

• Carry: holster secures to belt or pack for immediate access
• Deploy: remove orange safety wedge, insert finger in loop, press actuator
• Grip: finger-loop handle reduces chance of dropping during use
