KLEIN TOOLS CL120 Digital Clamp Meter — 400A AC, Auto-Ranging with Integrated NCVT and Backlit Display

The Klein Tools CL120 is a purpose-built digital clamp meter for electricians and technicians who need fast, reliable current readings plus basic voltage, resistance, and continuity checks. Designed and refined from field feedback, this meter combines a clamp-style AC current sensor with test-lead functions and a convenient non-contact voltage tester built into the jaw, so you can work safer and faster on live circuits.

How does the CL120 simplify routine electrical troubleshooting?

The CL120 uses auto-ranging electronics and a clear backlit LCD to remove guesswork and speed readings in dim or cramped spaces. Its clamp measures AC current without breaking the circuit while separate test leads handle AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity checks.

• Auto-ranging selects the correct scale automatically for accurate readings
• Backlit display improves visibility in low-light areas
• Integrated NCVT in the jaw for quick live-wire detection
• Data Hold and Max functions capture transient or hard-to-read values

What safety and convenience features protect me on the job?

Klein Tools built practical safety and hands-free options into the CL120, including CAT-rated accessories and an optional magnetic hanger for working near panels. Test leads include safety caps and the meter will auto-power off to preserve battery life when left unused.

• Test leads with CAT III/CAT IV safety caps for added protection
• Optional magnetic hanger compatibility for hands-free operation
• Auto power-off after 10 minutes to save batteries
• Side test-lead holder keeps leads tidy and accessible

Which measurements can I reliably perform with this meter?

The CL120 covers the essential shop and field measurements: AC current via the clamp, AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity using test leads, plus non-contact voltage detection for quick safety checks. It’s ideal for daily electrical diagnostics and maintenance tasks.

• AC current up to 400 A via clamp jaw
• AC and DC voltage with probe leads
• Resistance and continuity testing for circuit verification
• Non-contact voltage test (NCVT) integrated in the clamp for live-wire detection

Who is this for? Electricians, maintenance technicians, HVAC specialists, and skilled tradespeople who need a rugged, easy-to-use clamp meter for troubleshooting and routine electrical work will appreciate the CL120. It’s built to stand up to jobsite conditions, backed by Klein Tools’ long history of professional-grade instruments, and packaged with the accessories—carrying case, leads, safety caps, and batteries—to get you working right out of the box.

Included with the CL120 are a soft carrying case, test leads, three AAA batteries, and instructions so the meter is ready for immediate field use. The combination of clamp-style AC current measurement, integrated NCVT, and classic test-lead functions makes this meter a compact, no-nonsense tool for everyday electrical diagnostics.
