Kimbluth 8 gauge 8/2 marine duplex wire is a 50-foot tinned-copper boat cable built for reliable, corrosion-resistant DC power runs in marine and harsh environments.
Built to meet marine standards, this 8 AWG duplex cable combines tinned copper conductors with custom PVC insulation to resist salt, abrasion, heat and chemical exposure. Rated to 600V and designed to satisfy UL 1426 and SAE ABYC-style requirements, the cable is intended for battery feeds, lighting circuits, solar connections and general electrical runs on boats, RVs and other damp or outdoor installations.
The conductors are tinned to reduce corrosion and the special PVC jacket resists saltwater, gasoline and battery acid. These features slow oxidation and help maintain conductivity in marine environments.
Yes — the 8/2 duplex format carries two insulated conductors suitable for DC power circuits like battery-to-distribution or lighting feeds. The 8 AWG size supports higher current where thicker cable is required to limit voltage drop.
The cable is rated for operating voltages up to 600V and temperature limits suitable for most marine installations. Use the dry and wet temperature ratings to plan placement and routing on board or in exposed locations.
The flexible tinned strands and durable PVC jacket make routing and termination straightforward with standard marine fittings. Tinning improves solderability and reduces strand fray when crimping lugs or installing ring terminals.
Who this cable is for: This Kimbluth 8/2, 8 AWG marine duplex wire is aimed at boat owners, marine electricians, RV installers and off-grid solar hobbyists who need a corrosion-resistant, higher-current DC cable. If you require UL-style marine-rated wiring for battery feeds, lighting circuits, inverter connections or exterior runs exposed to salt, oil or heat, this 50FT tinned-copper cable offers a practical balance of durability, electrical capacity and ease of installation. For home or automotive indoor wiring where marine-grade resistance isn’t necessary, a non-marine cable may be more economical; for exposed and coastal applications, this cable helps maintain long-term performance and conductivity.
Q: Is this cable suitable for battery-to-inverter runs?
A: Yes. The 8 AWG tinned conductors carry higher DC current with reduced voltage drop and are suitable for many battery-to-inverter or battery-to-distribution runs.
Q: Can I use this wire outdoors and in saltwater environments?
A: Yes. Tinned copper and a custom PVC jacket resist salt, oxidation and common marine chemicals for outdoor and coastal use.
