Kidde Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector — Hardwired 120V with AA Backup, Ring App & Voice Alerts

The Kidde Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector (RGCUAR-RW) is a hardwired alarm with AA battery backup that delivers fast smoke and CO alerts and integrates with the Ring app for real-time notifications.

This combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is built to modernize home safety by pairing Kidde’s sensing technology with Ring connectivity. It operates on a 120V hardwired circuit and includes two AA backup batteries to maintain protection during power outages. Clear voice alerts announce the hazard type and Ring App integration sends push notifications when an event, low battery, or status change occurs. Optional 24/7 monitored response through Ring is available for an additional subscription fee.

How does this detector tell the difference between smoke and carbon monoxide?

The RGCUAR-RW uses dedicated sensors for smoke and for CO, combined with voice alerts that clearly identify the detected hazard. Visual indicators and app notifications further clarify the event so you know whether it's a fire or a carbon monoxide risk.

• Distinct voice announcements: “Fire!” or “Warning, Carbon Monoxide.”
• Separate sensor technologies for smoke and CO detection.
• LED status indicators that match alarm type for quick identification.
• Ring App push notifications with the detected alert type.

Will this work during a power outage or when I’m away from home?

Yes — the unit is hardwired to household 120V power and includes two AA batteries for backup operation during outages. When paired with the Ring App, you receive alerts on your phone whether you’re at home or away.

• 120V AC primary power for continuous protection.
• Two included AA batteries for backup power during outages.
• Real-time push notifications via the Ring App (no subscription required for alerts).
• Optional paid Ring monitoring provides 24/7 alarm verification and response.

Can this alarm connect to other alarms in my house?

You can add one Kidde smart detector to a network of Kidde hardwired alarms to enable whole-home smart notifications through the Ring App. Check your existing system’s model and the user guide for specific interconnect compatibility and wiring requirements.

• Supports whole-home mobile alerts when integrated with Kidde hardwired alarms.
• Different Kidde models have different interconnect setups—consult the manual.
• One smart unit can broadcast app notifications for all connected hardwired alarms.
• Designed to cooperate with Alexa-enabled devices for voice notifications.

What makes this Kidde model better at avoiding false alarms?

The detector incorporates improved sensing algorithms and hardware to reduce nuisance triggers often caused by normal household activities like cooking. This results in fewer interruptions while preserving sensitivity to real hazards.

• Enhanced sensing reduces false alarms compared to prior Kidde generations.
• Optimized for faster smoke detection in smoldering fire tests versus a leading competitor.
• Clear voice alerts prevent confusion about the type of alarm sounding.
• UL 217 and FCC tested and certified for reliability and compliance.

Who is this for: The Kidde RGCUAR-RW is ideal for homeowners upgrading to smart safety features who already have or plan to install hardwired alarms. It fits families who want combined smoke and CO protection, prefer voice alerts to identify hazards, and value remote notifications through the Ring App. Installers and DIY-savvy users who need a reliable backup battery option and whole-home connectivity will also benefit.
