Kidde Carbon Monoxide & Explosive Gas Alarm KN-COEG-3 — Plug-in with 9V Battery Backup, Digital LED Display

Compact and user-friendly, this Kidde unit combines an electrochemical CO sensor with combustible-gas detection in a single plug-in alarm. It runs on 120V AC with a 9-volt battery backup so monitoring continues through power outages. A digital LED readout updates every 15 seconds, records peak CO, and shows a clear "GAS" indicator when explosive gases are present, helping you quickly assess changing conditions at home.

How does the display help me understand danger levels?

The LED screen shows real-time CO concentrations in parts per million (ppm) and displays "GAS" when methane or propane is detected, so you can see trends before an alarm sounds. Peak level memory stores the highest CO reading since last reset or unplugging for easy review.

• Numeric CO readings from 30 to 999 ppm, updating every 15 seconds
• Distinct "GAS" message for combustible gas detection
• Peak memory records the highest detected CO level
• Small blinking status indicator confirms normal sensor operation

Will it keep working during a power outage?

Yes—the KN-COEG-3 plugs into a standard outlet for continuous AC power and includes a 9-volt battery backup so the alarm continues monitoring if electricity is lost. The battery is user-replaceable to maintain protection over time.

• Plugs into any 120V household outlet
• Includes a 9-volt battery for uninterrupted monitoring
• Test/reset button verifies horn and circuitry at any time
• Low-profile plug can rotate so the unit stays vertical

How will the alarm notify me of carbon monoxide or gas?

The unit has two distinct audible patterns and on-screen indications so you can identify the hazard type quickly. CO triggers a rapid four-beep pattern every five seconds while combustible-gas detection sounds faster beeps with the display reading "GAS."

• 85-decibel horn for unmistakable audible alerts
• CO alarm pattern: four quick beeps every five seconds
• Gas alarm pattern: fast beeps every other second with "GAS" on display
• Test/reset button to silence or check functionality

How easy is it to install and place around my home?

Installation is tool-free—plug the unit into any standard outlet, or use the included 6-foot extension cord to position the alarm on a shelf or table. The compact silhouette and rotatable plug make it adaptable to vertical or horizontal outlets, and Kidde recommends placing alarms on every level for best coverage.

• Plug-in design with included 6-foot extension cord
• Rotating plug fits vertical and horizontal outlets
• Low-profile housing sits unobtrusively in rooms or hallways
• Comes with mounting hardware and an installation guide
