K&N Air Filter Cleaning Kit – Service Kit 99-5050, 12 oz Cleaner & 6.5 oz Red Oil, 4‑Step Maintenance

The K&N Air Filter Cleaning Kit (Service Kit 99-5050) is a complete four-step maintenance set that cleans, rinses, and re-oils K&N oiled cotton air filters to restore airflow and filtration performance.

If your engine breathes through a reusable K&N FilterCharger or other oiled cotton air filter, this kit gives you the degreaser, oil, and clear workflow to return the filter to near-new condition. The package includes a 12 oz. Power Kleen filter cleaner, a 6.5 oz. squeeze bottle of K&N red filter oil, and a service decal so you can track maintenance. It’s formulated to dissolve trapped dirt and old oil, rinse clean, and reapply a measured oil layer that helps capture contaminants in the cotton pleats.

How does this kit restore a clogged K&N air filter?

Power Kleen is a concentrated degreaser that loosens and dissolves grime, old oil deposits, and particulate buildup embedded in the filter media. After spraying and agitating the cleaner, contaminants rinse away with water, leaving the cotton pleats clear for re-oiling. The included red oil is designed to suspend in the filter fibers for reliable contaminant capture without over-saturation.

• Spray Power Kleen to penetrate and break down oils and trapped dirt
• Rinse thoroughly to remove loosened contaminants
• Allow the filter to fully air-dry before oiling
• Apply K&N red oil evenly to restore filtration efficiency

What are the step-by-step instructions and best practices?

Follow the four-step maintenance sequence: apply cleaner, rinse, dry, and re-oil. Give the cleaner time to work — a short dwell helps dissolve stubborn residues. When oiling, use small amounts distributed across the pleats and let the oil wick into the media rather than saturating one spot.

• Spray filter with Power Kleen and let sit per label directions
• Rinse with low-pressure water from the clean side outward
• Air-dry completely in a well-ventilated area; do not use heat
• Squeeze-apply red oil in even beads, allow to spread into pleats

Will this kit work on all K&N oiled cotton filters?

Yes — the formula is compatible with K&N oiled cotton filter elements, including FilterCharger and standard high-flow air filters. It is tailored to dissolve and remove the specific oils and particulates that accumulate on these products without damaging the cotton media or the sealing surfaces. Always follow manufacturer instructions for your specific filter model.

• Designed for all K&N oiled cotton filters and FilterChargers
• Safe for the filter pleats and frame when used as directed
• Includes a service decal to note maintenance dates and intervals

How often should I clean and re-oil my K&N filter?

Cleaning frequency depends on driving conditions: dusty or off-road use requires more frequent service than highway driving in clean environments. Inspect the filter visually — heavy discoloration or restricted airflow indicates it’s time to use the kit. Use the included decal to record each maintenance event and establish a schedule that fits your habits.

• Check after heavy dust exposure or every few thousand miles as needed
• Service sooner if you notice decreased performance or dark buildup
• Keep records on the service decal to track intervals
