JMW Sales, Inc. National Geographic Butterfly Growing Kit — Painted Lady Caterpillar Voucher, Mesh Habitat & Learning Guide

Grow live Painted Lady butterflies at home with a complete habitat kit that includes a mesh enclosure, learning guide, and voucher for five caterpillars.

Bring a hands-on nature lesson into your home or classroom with the National Geographic Butterfly Growing Kit by JMW Sales, Inc. This boxed kit supplies the habitat, educational materials, decorative stickers, and a voucher to order five live caterpillars (shipping and handling fees apply; live caterpillars shipped to mainland USA only). Designed for curious kids, the set simplifies observation of the full metamorphosis cycle—from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult butterfly—while teaching life-science vocabulary and observation skills.

How does this kit let kids observe butterfly metamorphosis?

The kit includes a clear-sided mesh enclosure with a see-through lid that creates a safe display area for caterpillars and chrysalises. Children can watch each growth stage up close without disturbing the insects, and the full-color Learning Guide explains what to expect day by day.

• Ventilated mesh habitat with a transparent lid for close observation
• Voucher to order five Painted Lady caterpillars (mainland USA delivery)
• Step-by-step Learning Guide and progress-tracking poster included
• Stickers for personalizing the habitat and engaging younger learners

What comes in the box and what do I need to add?

The boxed set supplies the physical habitat, educational booklets, a decorative sticker sheet, and a voucher for caterpillars. You’ll need to redeem the voucher to receive live caterpillars (shipping costs apply) and provide a small amount of fresh food for the butterflies once they emerge.

• Included: mesh enclosure, clear lid, Learning Guide, observation poster, stickers, caterpillar voucher
• Not included: shipping fee to redeem caterpillars; nectar or fruit for adult butterflies
• Requires adult supervision for voucher redemption and habitat maintenance

Is this butterfly kit safe and suitable for children?

Yes—designed as an educational toy, the habitat keeps caterpillars and butterflies contained while allowing airflow and visibility. The activity suits children who can follow simple instructions, with adult help for voucher ordering and monitoring the living insects.

• Age-appropriate for school-age children with adult supervision
• Ventilated enclosure protects the insects and reduces escape risk
• Learning materials encourage safe, respectful observation of wildlife

How does the Learning Guide support science learning?

The included full-color Learning Guide breaks down life-cycle stages, feeding needs, and observation tips in kid-friendly language. It also includes activities and a poster so children can record changes and practice scientific documentation.

• Clear explanations of caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly stages
• Poster for tracking growth and noting observations over time
• Activity ideas that reinforce biology vocabulary and curiosity-driven learning
