The InSinkErator Badger 1 is a compact, 1/3 HP continuous-feed garbage disposal with a factory-installed power cord designed to grind everyday food scraps and save under-sink space.

The Badger 1 combines simple operation with a durable Dura-Drive induction motor and rugged galvanized steel grind components to handle routine kitchen waste. Built to fit most standard sinks and to slip into tight under-sink areas, this unit aims to deliver reliable performance for homeowners seeking an affordable, easy-to-install disposer. It includes the mounting hardware, a jam-buster wrenchette, and Lift and Latch technology for a smoother install than older models.

How does the Badger 1 simplify daily kitchen cleanup?

This disposer reduces sink-side food waste by grinding scraps into tiny particles that flush through the drain, cutting down on time spent scraping plates and managing trash. Its continuous-feed design lets you run the unit while adding food waste, making it convenient during meal prep and cleanup.

• Continuous-feed operation for steady disposal while running water
• 1/3 HP motor provides consistent torque for common kitchen scraps
• Compact 11.5" height fits most under-sink spaces
• Includes kitchen drain stopper and jam-buster wrenchette

What makes installation and maintenance easier for a DIYer?

The Badger 1 is set up for straightforward do-it-yourself replacement or first-time installation. Its Quick Lock twist-on mounting and Lift and Latch feature let one person install the disposer without needing to support the unit while aligning the mounting ring.

• Factory-installed power cord for immediate hookup
• "Twist-On, Twist-Off" Quick Lock Mount for fast swaps with compatible models
• All required flanges, gaskets, and bolts included
• Lift and Latch reduces awkward handling during attachment

Is the Badger 1 durable enough for regular kitchen use?

Constructed with galvanized steel grinding components and a Dura-Drive induction motor, this disposer is built to last through normal household use. While it’s not designed for industrial loads, it stands up well to the typical scraps produced by a family kitchen.

• Heavy-duty Dura-Drive induction motor resists overheating
• Rugged galvanized grind components minimize wear
• Single-stage grind optimized for everyday food waste
• Backed by a 1-year limited service warranty

Will this unit work with my septic system and small under-sink layouts?

The Badger 1 is compatible with properly maintained septic systems and is specifically designed to be space-efficient. Its narrow width and modest height free up room beneath the sink for other utilities or storage, while still allowing safe disposal into septic or municipal systems when used correctly.

• Septic-safe when paired with a well-maintained system
• 6.31" footprint keeps the unit compact under the sink
• Designed to route ground particles into standard plumbing
• Height and shape accommodate additional under-sink appliances

Who is this for: The InSinkErator Badger 1 is well suited for homeowners, renters, and small households that want an affordable, dependable garbage disposal that’s easy to install and occupies minimal under-sink space. It’s a practical choice for kitchen remodels, replacements of older disposers, or first-time installs where moderate grinding power and simple maintenance are priorities.
