Read on for practical answers to common buying questions.

How many pages will these bottles print before needing replacement?

The 32XL black bottle supplies a very large yield and each 31 color bottle supports thousands of pages at standard coverage. Estimates use 5% A4 coverage as a common industry benchmark and actual results vary with image density and print settings.

• 32XL black (165ml): approximately 19,000 pages at 5% coverage.
• Each 31 color (100ml): roughly 10,000 pages at 5% coverage per bottle.
• Yields differ for photo-heavy or high-coverage documents; adjust expectations for infographics and photos.

Will these inks work with my HP Smart Tank printer and how do I refill safely?

inkgens bottles are formulated for compatibility with HP Smart Tank models including 7600, 7602, 7300, 7301, 7001, 5000 series, 5101/5102, 6000/6001, 651, and 551. The bottle tip and auto-stop feature help prevent overfilling and reduce spills, while included tools make the process straightforward.

• Follow your printer’s refill steps and use the included cap-opening gadget and gloves for a tidy refill.
• Auto-stop bottle design minimizes risk of overflow—no squeezing required.
• Perform a nozzle/cartridge clean if switching between pigment and dye inks to avoid mixing effects.

What are the differences between the 32XL pigment black and the 31 dye color bottles?

The black 32XL is a pigment ink optimized for sharp text and water resistance, while the 31 cyan/magenta/yellow bottles use dye ink to produce bright, saturated colors. Because pigment and dye inks have different particle and solvent properties, mixing them without cleaning can affect print quality.

• 32XL black (pigment): crisper text and better fade resistance for documents.
• 31 cyan/magenta/yellow (dye): vivid, smooth color transitions for photos and graphics.
• Clean cartridges and nozzles before switching ink types to prevent clogging or color shifts.

Who is this for? The inkgens 31/32XL set suits home offices, small businesses, and heavy document users who want lower running costs and fewer cartridge swaps. It’s ideal for owners of compatible HP Smart Tank models who need high page yields, clear black text, and bright color prints while preferring the convenience of anti-leak refill bottles and included refill tools. If you anticipate frequent photo printing or require strict archival color matching, consider printer settings and routine maintenance when using mixed ink types.
