Indie Boards and Cards Coup bluffing card game — Compact 2-6 player box, quick rounds

Coup is a quick, social bluffing card game where players use deception, deduction, and role claims to be the last one with influence. Set in a dystopian corporate-ruled future, Coup puts players in the roles of powerful officials who manipulate, bribe, and deceive to seize control. Each round is compact and tense: you take one action per turn, you may lie about your role, and opponents can call your bluff — or pay the price. The box contains just what you need to spark fast, repeatable confrontations that scale cleanly from head-to-head to a lively six-player table.

How does Coup keep game nights moving quickly?

Coup is designed around a minimal, focused turn structure so rounds are brisk and attention never lags. Every turn requires a single decision, which keeps downtime short and encourages rapid-fire psychological play as players test and read one another.

• Single-action turns reduce rule complexity and speed up play.
• Compact component set eliminates setup and cleanup delays.
• Clear iconography makes roles and actions easy to scan at a glance.

What makes bluffing and challenges satisfying in Coup?

Bluffing is central: you may assert any role to gain its power, but opponents can challenge you and force a reveal. That risk-reward loop creates tense table dynamics where timing, reading opponents, and calculated sacrifices matter as much as card luck.

• Five distinct roles create varied interaction and counterplay.
• Challenges and counter-challenges lead to dramatic reveals and reversals.
• Player elimination raises stakes and encourages attentive psychology.

Is Coup suitable for new players and mixed groups?

Yes — the rules are compact and easy to teach, yet depth arises from player interactions rather than complex mechanics. Newcomers can learn the basics in minutes, while repeat sessions reward strategic refinement and social skills.

• Simple ruleset makes onboarding fast for casual players.
• Short game length allows multiple rounds and experimentation.
• Works well for family nights, gatherings of friends, or hobby game warm-ups.

How portable and replayable is this edition of Coup?

The game's small footprint and limited parts mean it travels easily and slips into backpacks or shelves without taking much room. Its replayability comes from shifting alliances, varying bluffs, and how different role interactions play out each session.

• Small box and minimal components for easy transport.
• High replay value thanks to emergent player-driven stories.
• Ideal as both a filler game and a centerpiece for bluff-focused nights.

Who is this for? Coup suits people who enjoy fast social deduction, strategic bluffing, and quick, repeatable rounds with friends or family. It’s ideal when you want a low-prep game with high table interaction — from casual players and teens to experienced groups looking for a tight mind-game experience. If you value games that prioritize player psychology over lengthy rulebooks, Coup is a compact, portable choice that delivers memorable moments every session.
