IAMS Healthy Weight Large Breed Dry Dog Food, Chicken - 29.1 lb, L‑Carnitine & Prebiotics

IAMS Proactive Health Healthy Weight Large Breed Dry Dog Food is a chicken-first, veterinarian-recommended formula designed to help large adult dogs maintain a healthy weight while supporting overall vitality.

This large-breed dry kibble combines real chicken as the top ingredient with a specific nutrient profile created to support five core areas of adult canine health. The recipe avoids fillers and artificial flavors and uses ingredients considered natural by AAFCO standards. Built with L-carnitine, targeted fibers, prebiotics, and quality whole grains, it aims to balance energy, muscle tone, digestion, and metabolism for dogs that need weight management without sacrificing nutrition.

How does this food help manage my large dog's weight?

The formula includes L-carnitine to support fat oxidation and a tailored fiber blend to increase satiety, helping dogs feel fuller on fewer calories. Carbohydrates come from barley, corn, and sorghum which are selected to moderate glucose response and steady energy release.

• L-carnitine to support healthy metabolic processes
• Natural fibers and prebiotics for longer-lasting fullness
• Wholesome grains that slow carbohydrate absorption
• Controlled calorie density suited for large-breed adults

Will this support my dog's muscle strength as they lose or maintain weight?

Yes — high-quality protein from real chicken is the primary protein source to help preserve lean muscle mass during weight changes. Maintaining muscle helps mobility and overall function in larger breeds as calorie intake is adjusted.

• Real chicken listed as the first ingredient for consistent protein
• Protein level balanced for large-breed adult maintenance
• Nutrient profile supports firm, strong muscles during weight management

How does the recipe support digestion and steady energy?

The kibble blends natural fibers and prebiotic ingredients to nurture healthy gut bacteria and improve digestion, which can reduce hunger-driven snacking. Barley, corn, and sorghum provide digestible carbohydrates that release energy more gradually than high-glycemic starches.

• Prebiotics help maintain a balanced intestinal microbiome
• Fiber blend promotes regularity and a sense of fullness
• Whole grains supply sustained energy for active days

What practical features should I expect on the label and feeding routine?

The packaging lists guaranteed analysis and feeding guidelines tailored to large-breed adult weights; follow the suggested portions and adjust based on activity level and body condition. Ingredients are chosen to meet AAFCO adult maintenance standards and avoid artificial flavors or fillers.

• AAFCO-compliant formulation for adult maintenance
• No artificial flavors or filler ingredients listed
• Feeding chart on bag helps calculate daily portions by weight
