HOPWELL's 13-inch, 15-note steel tongue drum is a handpan-style percussion instrument tuned to D Major that delivers clear, melodic tones and comes complete with mallets, a music book, and a carry bag.

This compact handpan drum blends a wider pitch range with user-friendly design so both beginners and experienced players can explore melodic percussion, relaxation, and composition. Hand-finished by artisans, the drum’s environmentally safe paint and sturdy construction make it a portable instrument for practice, performance, or group play. The included accessories help you start making music right away.

How does the 15-note layout improve what I can play?

Having 15 notes expands the melodic possibilities beyond common 8- or 10-note drums, letting you cover more scales, play fuller melodies, and adapt songs that require extra tones. The D Major tuning gives a bright, consonant palette ideal for meditative pieces, folk arrangements, and simple pop melodies.

• 15 distinct tones for greater melodic range and chord options
• D Major tuning favors harmonious, uplifting intervals
• Better suited for arranging complete songs without transposition
• Works well solo or with other acoustic instruments

What does the drum sound like and how is the tone achieved?

The HOPWELL drum produces clear, resonant, bell-like notes with a warm sustain that feels both relaxing and musical. Skilled metalwork and precise tuning of each tongue create consistent timbre across the instrument, while the hand-applied, non-fading finish preserves the drum’s look without affecting sound quality.

• Bright, melodic attack with smooth sustain
• Consistent tuning across all 15 tongues for balanced voicing
• Handcrafted metalwork enhances resonance and clarity
• Eco-friendly paint resists fading and won’t discolor tone

Is the HOPWELL drum suitable for beginners and travel?

Yes—this model is intentionally forgiving for new players while retaining the depth sought by advanced users. The included soft mallets and the supplied music book shorten the learning curve, and the protective carry bag makes it easy to transport or protect the drum during storage.

• Designed for easy learning—instant pleasant sounds for novices
• Comes with mallets and instruction/music book to get started
• Durable carry bag for travel and safe storage
• Compact 13" size balances volume, portability, and presence

How will this instrument fit into performances or daily practice?

The instrument’s projection and tonal clarity make it suitable for intimate performances, studio layering, or solo practice sessions. Players can use fingers or mallets to vary attack and texture, and the D Major scale sits comfortably with many vocal lines and acoustic ensembles.

• Flexible playing options: mallets or hand techniques
• Clear projection for small venues and recording
• Blendable D Major tuning for collaborations with guitars and strings
• Robust construction stands up to regular use
