HIRAM'S GranuCide Cedar Granules 8 lb – Natural Cedar Chips Mulch, Long-Lasting Insect Deterrent & Moisture-Retaining

HIRAM'S GranuCide Cedar Granules are 100% natural cedar chips designed to deter common insects around the home and garden while serving as an attractive, eco-friendly mulch. HIRAM'S GranuCide combines sustainably sourced cedar wood processed into coarse granules that release a fragrant cedar aroma to discourage ants, spiders, mosquitoes, aphids and other nuisance insects. Unlike chemical sprays or concentrated oils, cedar granules offer a low-maintenance, pet-friendly option you can scatter in planters, flower beds, borders, or near entryways to help reduce insect activity while also helping retain soil moisture and improve garden appearance.

How do cedar granules reduce bugs without chemicals?

The natural scent and oils in cedarwood are unappealing to many crawling and flying insects, creating an environment they tend to avoid. GranuCide delivers that deterrent effect continuously as the aroma dissipates slowly, providing longer-lasting protection compared with single-application sprays.

• 100% untreated cedar retains natural aromatic compounds.
• Granular form slowly releases scent over weeks.
• Suitable for repeated placement around vulnerable areas.

Where and how should I use these cedar chips for best results?

Scatter the granules as a ring around doorways, along foundation lines, under shrubs, and in pots to create a scented barrier. They work well as a surface mulch in garden beds to both deter pests and slow evaporation, but avoid burying deeply if you want the aroma to persist.

• Top-dress flower beds, planters, and raised beds.
• Create perimeter lines along patios and entry paths.
• Refresh every few weeks after heavy rain or decomposition.

Are cedar granules safe for pets, kids, and planted areas?

GranuCide is made from untreated cedar, free from added pesticides or synthetic fragrances, so it’s a family- and pet-friendly choice when used as directed. Because it’s a wood product, it’s non-toxic to humans and most animals, but keep an eye on pets who dig to prevent ingestion of large quantities.

• Untreated cedar—no added chemicals or preservatives.
• Safe for use around lawns, shrubs, trees, and potted plants.
• Monitor pets that excessively chew or eat mulch materials.

How does GranuCide compare to sprays and oils?

Granules provide passive, long-duration scent release without repeated spray applications, reducing labor and limiting direct contact with sprays or concentrated oils. They also double as a decorative, moisture-conserving mulch, so you gain pest deterrence and landscape benefits in one product.

• Longer lasting scent versus one-time sprays.
• No misting or drift — cleaner application around patios and plants.
• Adds visual texture and helps retain soil moisture.

Who is this for? Homeowners, gardeners, and pet owners looking for a low-toxicity way to cut down on common household and garden pests will appreciate HIRAM'S GranuCide Cedar Granules. If you want an easy-to-apply product that freshens outdoor spaces, serves as an effective mulch, and reduces reliance on chemical treatments, this 8 lb bag delivers natural, multi-purpose performance for yards, planters, pathways, and foundation lines.
