HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade Powder 10 lb — OMRI-Listed, Includes Powder Duster

HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade 10lb is a 100% chemical-free, OMRI-listed powdered diatomaceous earth packaged with a convenient powder duster for precise indoor and outdoor use.

HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade is a finely milled freshwater DE sold in a 10 lb resealable bag and accompanied by a powder duster tucked inside the package for easy application. Sourced from responsibly mined Nevada deposits and packed in Georgia, this product is listed with the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and contains no additives or fillers. It’s intended for a variety of household uses where a silica-based powder is appropriate — from perimeter treatments to moisture-control tasks — and is produced by HARRIS, a long-standing EPA-registered brand founded in 1922.

How should I apply HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth for best coverage?

Use the included powder duster to distribute a thin, even layer over target surfaces. Apply directly to cracks, crevices, foundations, or garden beds, then brush or lightly rake the area to expose fresh powder where needed.

• Fill the duster and shake gently for a dusting mist.
• Spread a light, visible layer rather than clumps for active surface area.
• Reapply after heavy rain or deep cleaning for continued effectiveness.

Is this diatomaceous earth safe to use around people, pets, and plants?

HARRIS food-grade DE is chemical-free and contains no additives, making it suitable for use around homes, pets, and many garden settings when directions are followed. Avoid inhaling the dust and keep applications away from open food or sensitive respiratory conditions.

• Use a mask when applying to minimize dust inhalation.
• Keep pets and people away until dust settles.
• OMRI listing indicates compatibility with organic gardening practices when used appropriately.

What makes HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth different from other powders?

This product is harvested from freshwater diatomite deposits in Nevada, milled to a consistent food-grade powder, and packaged in the USA. The OMRI listing and absence of fillers or chemical additives set it apart for users wanting an organic-compatible option with traceability of sourcing and packaging.

• OMRI-listed for organic use in approved applications.
• Produced and packaged in the United States for quality control.
• Includes a ready-to-use powder duster for precise application.

How long does a 10 lb bag typically last in home or garden use?

Longevity depends on coverage area and frequency of reapplication; small targeted jobs can last many months, while broad perimeter or garden treatments will use product faster. Because DE works as a surface treatment, only thin layers are needed, which helps extend the 10 lb supply.

• Spot treatments (cracks, crevices) can last weeks to months between reapplications.
• Garden beds may require seasonal reapplication, especially after rain.
• Keep the bag sealed to preserve dryness and ease of future use.

Who is this for? HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, 10 lb is suited to homeowners, organic gardeners, and small-scale property managers looking for a chemical-free powdered solution for pest management, moisture control, or soil amendment support. It’s also a good option for anyone who wants an OMRI-listed product with American sourcing and a handy powder duster included for controlled placement. Follow label directions and basic safety practices (masking and avoiding direct inhalation) for effective, responsible use.
